Agree...now if i was an WCE backman and the ball is coming in...i would say to myself...mmm, now, um... which player will i go too....Chris Dawes or Jesse "the gun" Hogan....oh oh I know!!!!

Do you think the decision would take that long?

I don't believe Dawes did play last week.

but who knows for certain?

He was injured and spent the game in the coach's box.

Bring the Pedo back!!

If it was the gran finale with 10 secs to go 5 points down and the ball was lofted into our 50...I would prefer pedo to be in contention than jogan...yeah pederson is ageing...but I feel Jesse has hit peter. No disrespect to the guy but we need hard, skilled, swift mids/ half backs with giant knutz.

Read an article on club website where Roos said "we feel that when Watts goes into the ruck, Jesse is often one out".

How long until the Weed is ready? Would Spencer be a better option? Leave Watts permanently up fwd....

Weed to debut, or Hulett.....or Spencer who has worked his butt off at Casey as a tall forward option but no.......the chronic underachiever and underperforming Dawes gets whisked back in with no form and no fitness.

I guess it will give Roos another opportunity to say it was lost at selection.

One of the worst inclusions in a very long run of bad selections.

Thank you I did not think he played.

So a number of players at Casey had big numbers could not get a game but a guy who has not played since being dropped gets back.

How does that work?

Fantastic preparation for a big game on a big ground.

Might be a big game from Dawes! He is certainly playing for his future.

CB he has been at the club 4 years and has had 0 big games.  His best game was the upset win in Adelaide in 2014. From memory he had around 20 possessions and 3 goals and a couple of epic tackles.

Id call that a very solid game, and thats the best hes had for us.

Nice little cop out by Roos. He is Goodwins problem!

Cop out?  Roos isn't going to be there next year.  It make sense for Goodwin to make the decision as he'll be the one who has to live with it.

If I had any faith that we could win on the weekend that ended  with Dawes in and O Mac still in.

A large liability at both ends of the ground.

The  only up side was Kennedy out

Weed needs to get a kick in the 2's first

Yeah let's drop O Mac and play Dunn.  That would really help

What anoys me Wb is that he has now no opinion.

Will that be the same for Grimes, Dunn,Trengove, and a few others?

They are Goodwins problem after he refused to playe them?

We needed to bring in a tall fwd and Dawes is the best of a bad lot. Unfortunately. Pedo still is either unfit or terribly out of form

Surely you're not that naive, OD?  Goodwin and Roos would be working and deciding on these issues together.  Goodwin inherits the list next year, so I'm certain he gets a say in who plays and who he wants on the list from 2017.  Roos would most certainly have an opinion and, really, Goodwin would be silly not to at least seek his counsel on many of the big decisions.  To suggest Roos suddenly has 'no opinion' is a little silly.

Roosy you have lost me! How can you possibly pick Chris Dawes on his last deplorable game then he misses last week gets dropped and then you pick him again!??

Nup.. I would love you to justify this! Why not Blood Weeds Hullet, sheeit even Spencer deserves a go more than Dawes??

Not to mention developing Clarry Choo Choo!

But all is Well !! Oscar Love Child still gets a game!

Thanks for what you have done for MFC Paul, but time to hand reigns over to Goodwin IMO!

Pedo has missed a big slab of footy, needs to get his match fitness up. He was never going to be a possibility this week, but Dawes would want to count his lucky stars that he's the only one left standing who can fill that role.

Whilst on the topic of experimentation(see junior burger) Max King has been on the list for a couple; if he is to be delisted well...just do due diligence an give him a crack.

How many Casey forwards had big numbers? From what I can see, all the big forwards, including Pedo, had mediocre games and low numbers.

(BTW, no, Dawes and Mitchie are not interchangeable.)

The standout player at Casey, ANB, has been rewarded and included.

I am not taking about forwards bing.

Anyone of size who played ok would be better than Dawes who was dropped for poor form and has  not played since.

The reasons are obvious, for anyone prepared to look at the big picture instead of just throwing a tanty.

As for Oliver, he's specifically being left at Casey for his development, as Plapp noted in his player review. Has been consistent about what they want Oliver to work on.

Finally, it's laughable to suggest that the selections are being made by Roos alone, without input from all the coaches, including Goodwin. This isn't some backyard club where the coach pins up the team on Thursday night after the post-training BBQ.

Such as?

From reports, no-one "of size" is really playing OK, which is why they're at Casey.

Get a sense that Hogan will miss with a sore back/long flight. Hence the unfortunate Dawes inclusion.

Would he really forego a trip to see his family/property?

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
