As i'm sure it's well known, rumours were about that Rocky was considering his options in the final year of his last contract and that Melbourne was a potential destination (i.e pick 2 may have been turned into Rockliff, rather than Dom & Salem.)

After reading this article: http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/afl/teams/brisbane/brisbane-captain-tom-rockliff-pulls--contract-proposal-he-made-to-the-lions-off-the-table/news-story/a3620679ca8679812858ff37e5bbcdf6

IF he decided to leave (e.g. Ryan Griffen style) could we dare? and should we dare? Given Dion isn't able to be lured.

If he as much of a destabilizing influence as is rumored, then its an easy No.

Would cost a lot, and although a very good player when fit, would not be the kind of "personality", that would encourage team first ideals.

Every spare cent should be thrown at Hurley. No picks needed, no players traded, just cash.

Prestia, Hibberd, Hurley would make a massive difference to our chances of finals next year, and its simply a leap we must take, for everyone's sanity.

Oh, and welcome to the forum TD. You will converse with assorted drunks and perverts here. Console yourself with the fact that most are already in Gods departure lounge, and as such, senility features heavily in their rants.

Heard rumours of some more barneys between Rockliff and some of his teammates recently. I'm not sure if he was in the wrong, but these little spot fires seem to be all too common.

Sounds like both he and Leppa sing from the same 'hymn book'.

I wouldn't be surprised if both Coach and Captain are gone by years end.

It's a no, from me.

Word is rocky can be pretty brutal towards his team mates and some can't handle it.

Very aggressive personnality/leadership style.

I'd be frustrated too playing in that brisbane team they should be better than they play, especially with that young midfield. He likely wouldnt walk into our leadership group anyway. Either way I dont think his cost is going to be worth what he brings, yes he is very good and better than some of what we have, but he fills a role we already have an excess of. Keep tabs on him for the time being and dont give up on getting him just yet, but we should have other priorities.

Gets 40 odd touches per game when in form....

Is he trying to set standards and going too hard with the young group?

I'm not denying he's a good player and would love him at the Dees as a player.

I just have information that he's not hugely popular at the Lions, and players have left the club and felt very uncomfortable because of his leadership style and attitude in general.

Given his sides performance though, i'm not surprised he's trying to lift the effort and so on, just suggesting some within the club feel he hasn't done it the right way and that, the fact he is somewhat injury prone and his asking price lead to a situation where the Lions are reluctant to re-sign their own captain.

Can't imagine he would be desperate to come to us since we passed on him intially. Just guessing as you hear this about others in the same boat.

I'd have him in a heartbeat.

Although like any newcomer he would need to prove himself and earn the respect of the club and players, learn how they conduct themselves and treat one another, and thus wouldn't slip straight into the leadership group.

That aside, I think it's highly unlikely that he'll head our way anyway.

I also agree with faultydet, I would like to see the club go hard after the likes of Hurley and Hibberd or other free agents which shouldn't cost the club any picks in trade.

No interest in Rockliff.  We've got enough inside bulls, and his outside game is average at best. I'd rather an O'Meara type (assuming he gets through his upcoming games returning from that knee injury).

That's a shame.

We usually let guys like Colin"Humphrey"Garland drive standards.

While Rockliff may add something on the playing front, didn't we learn our lesson during the Neeld 'go hard or go home era'? We had the same issues of retention that Brisbane is experiencing now.

Rockliff is a very good player. Was talked about as up and coming elite only 2 years ago when he was consistently getting 30 touches a game. Has struggled to do much with the captaincy, and at 26 years of age you would think he would want to play finals footy before his career is done.

I don't think the dees will cough up whatever rocky is asking. He is due for a nice pay bump, and someone out there will give it to him.

I agree. I hope they're looking super closely at Gary Rohan.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
