I recommend tackling an arm not the body, and pull it down and back if possible, may cause a few dislocations but will not give a free kick. This is for the duckers of the world. You asked for it.

Or grab "perpendiculating" arm at elbow & hold it up while teammate smashes into unprotected ribs.

Here's this weeks edition of 'weak ducking cheat'. These players need to be shamed as they go against the spirit of the game. I'm glad we don't have any players that resort to this kind of rubbish. Hopefully someone knocks his head off or at very least rips a chunk of that wig off.

You guys are all over reacting to a kid that dropped himself down twice not six times, being a brisbane supporter I agree that he did drop his knees but not all six times some were from sloppy tackles and one wasn't even from a high tackle it was an infringement after a mark. Maybe you should look into the Selwoods who have been getting away with it for years.

No, Rhys, you dropped your knees every time. Now go practice being a turtle, b!tchmode.

I believe there needs to be something done about this otherwise we will either have 30 or 40 of these 'high tackle' decisions given a game or there will be no tackling at all.

If this becomes the SOP of the man with the ball I will stop watching and supporting.

Hahahaha this is great.

The blokes lying on his back and throws his whole body backwards but it was a bad tackle.

Kid would get 9.5s from the soviet and chinese judges

When he is lying on his back with his jaw re broken he may just sit back and think... I shouldn't have dropped my knee... I'm a fIog.

He would be right.

Has anything been said in the media about the stager this week?

They had a look at it on On The Couch - all agreed it's rubbish

The crumpling is rubbish or the reaction?

He's already had his jaw or cheek broken this year.

In his defence he was crunched off the ball by a bloke who got 4 weeks...

The act itself

He called it the thursday when he was named in the team.

Slobbo called him out for a future incidence of ducking? Must have finally reached that worm at the bottom of the bottle.

Don't forget even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

I hope the umps talk to the lions and words them up they will not pay any head highs for him unless he is standing.

So glad none of our players seem to have this habit.

Drives me mad that all we hear about is how protecting the players heads is of the highest importance and then there are cheats like Mathieson doing everything possible to initiate high contact.

I would have thought the AFLPA should be giving him and anyone using similar tactics a call if they are serious about player welfare. Someone will get seriously injured soon enough and only have themselves to blame.

Bottom line. It's not in the spirit of footy!! Which surely means something.

Hilarious, i gather that was actually comedy.

Have a watch again and you will see he at the very least drops a shoulder and his body in every tackle. He played for the free every time.

Give him a break - the guy has a flawed technique and he was taught by Windows in the U18s.

If he persists with doing it, he'll end up being a regular concussion head - so it will be coached out of him - eventually.

Can't be too Flawed the umps LUUURVED IT!

Its not so much the dropping of the knees that did it for me. It was the throwing up of the arm.... Anyone on the Balcony would have noticed me blowing up about it every time. There was also a couple more that weren't paid because play had already stopped. I wish more players than just ANB had had a go at him for his cheating play

Wasn't this the bloke who was being touted as one of our more favored Draft Picks by some on this forum in the 2015 National draft.

Obviously we all knew nothing about him then, but.......

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
