6 - Viney - tackled, got ball, did his thing.

5 - Tyson - Reslly starting to click into gear. 32 is a big return from him.

4 - Jetta - just is a rock even though he's tiny.

3 - McDonald - 11 marks 25 touches. His 1%er numbers up again and as much as we get stuck into him, he is still one of the best in the league. Needs help though.

2 - Stretch - best game for the club. Really liked his endevour and went from boarder line 22 to important in the space of one game.

1 - Watts - terrible first half and then really got involved in the 2nd. His passes to Hogan are insane.

Anybody giving Hogan votes should remember that a full-forward's job is to kick goals.

Hogan? Really?

6. Viney - our best and a tackling machine

5. Tyson - one of his better games

4. Jetta - shining light in defence

3. Watts - probably our best forward and second half was huge (apart from the dropped mark)

2. Kennedy - did a few nice things

1. Stretch - Good on the wing

apologies to Tmac, thought he was pretty solid and clunked a few grabs.

Jetta

Stretch

Kennedy

McDonald

Vince

6 Jetta

5 Tyson

now struggling...

Kennedy kicked 2 goals but was ineffective

Watts lacked any contest in the first half

Tommy Mcd dropped some crucial marks and failed to spoil twice that resulted in Bulldogs goals. Four Bulldogs goals were from his mistakes

True, but five contested marks and three goal assists in my eyes is better than uncontested stats when the game is over like those from Watts.

6 - Viney - Tried his guts out all day and 16 tackles cannot be argued against

5 - Jetta - Little General in the backline and doesn't shirk any contest

4 - Tyson - Was everywhere and is starting to build some real momentum

3 - Kennedy - Chases, harasses and just generally tries his guts out

2 - McDonald - Has brain fades each game but imagine the score without him today?

1 - Watts - Worked his way into it and should teach Hogan how to kick

Stiff to miss out were...

Stretch - Just needs more awareness and should cement a 22 spot

Petracca - Tried really hard but still adjusting to how quickly the opposition "close in" on you at the highest level

Gawn - Taps galore but looks like he may need a rest... but without much in reserve will just have to suck it up and keep going!

Jones - Is that bloody good that even an average game doesn't cut the mustard for votes

(Dis?)Honorable mention to T Mac - a few errors and dropped marks at clutch moments cost us. Set for a return to form against Brisbane.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
