If my calculations are correct 4 years would take him to free agency.  So the years on the deal make a lot of sense.

Probably a rubbish rumour though.

Read post 3281 you may like it.

Yes, youre right Redleg. Will take him to FA.  Lets hope the rumour is legit.

I know Dr. Turf and he wouldn't make it up. If he said it on SEN, then he has heard it from someone. Doesn't mean the other person is correct of course.

Also if true, the club may not be happy with him breaking the news.

The fact that it would take him to FA, does add some logic to it.

From what I heard, he didn't directly say that Hogan would be signing a four year contract, he simply said that his gut feeling is that Hogan will stay. It does seem promising that he mentioned it today though as it coincides with what his daughter posted.

Unless his daughter (who merely said it was a rumour) got that info from her Dad on the radio...

Facebook post was a few hours prior.

In which case,  maybe Dr Turf phrased it as a gut feel because, like Redleg said, the club wouldn't be happy with someone leaking this info

Turns out that fb post is from the daughter of "Dr Turf"... Hmmmm...

Edit - And apparently "Dr Turf" mentioned this on SEN today.

I'm going off second hand info, but apparently he said it this morning.

Yup, it was his daughter. And Turfy said on SEN that he "believed" that Jesse had signed a 4 year deal.
Also, some suggestions that the deal has a clause in it in regards to Jesse's father. Whatever it may be, but probably fair enough.

Also, yes, that Melbourne FC facebook group is bizarre. Every now and then a few gems of info pops up but most of it is bizarre and uneducated. It makes Demonland look like Harvard.

Where did the 4 year signing come from though?

Scenario...

Daddy Turf at brekkie: "I have a feeling Hogan will sign on, maybe for about 4 years which would take him to free agency...."

Daughter Turf: "Oh yeah...." (Then posts on facebook she heard a rumour Hogan has signed a contract for 4 years)

Don't think so.

The suggestion that there will be an announcement next week (ie. after the GF), also adds a smidgen of credibility   .....   but probably just clutching at straws.

The Good Doctor has many contacts inside the MFC

I don't think he would say anything unless he heard strong words.

Dr Turf and the Ox are 2 i take notice of if they are talking MFC

His brother is an ex Director of the club  and would have some pretty good contacts.

It may be why he has couched his comments as a feeling only, so as to not betray a confidence.

Agreed. I have known John as a Passionate Demon since Punter to Punter days.

I consider his words a solid source.

Darling rumoured to be leaving Eagles and Essendon leading the chase with several other clubs also interested.

Hope this rumour doesn't throw a spanner in the other rumour we are discussing.

Didn't think he would last after Bad games in Finals 2 years running.

Hopefully the MFC deal is locked

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
