Outside the box - Bernie.

Bernie on Stringer or Bont. Bugg takes the other. It is a mental thing, Bernie and Bugg are the anti-dote to certain types. Bernie smashed Dangerfield last year and Bont is of similar type (mentally). So is Stringer. Its simple really, disrespect the narcissist types early in the peace.

Have any of you watched us play all year? He won't have a direct opponent. He will kick 4-5, all out the back and mostly on a mis-match with Jetta.

But I'm not worried about him at all. The midfield pressure and forward press will mean far more to the result of the game than who is nearest Stringer when the ball gets out the back.

Fair call. Let them worry about our midfield. Push it forward and put their undermanned backline under the pump.

Agreed. Get into him early physically and verbally and he'll be standing there for the rest of day, holding his package.

From memory Bernie played on Bont in our win against the Doggies last year with a great deal of success, including catching him holding the ball and kicking the sealer in the last. More of that please.

Yes yes yes

Frost was recruited EXACTLY to match up on players like Stringer. Yet MFC wanted to develop as a forward (when we have 4-5 key forwards).

Frost needs to be in to match up with players like Riewoldt, Lynch, Daniher (all who have beaten Tom Mcdonald this year).

Frost is picked in defence for Casey. Maybe they are finally going to try him there.....

Frost will soon become a decent forward/defender,his confidence may be a little low due to a long lay off. The Melbourne Football team is still short on quality players. Our opponent do not have a quality defence themselves. Whilst Stringer and co.may be standouts  we also have our share of standouts. The Dees to win in an upset.

Bernie to Bont. Garland to Stringer. Beat them at the contest we will get it inside 50 enough to win and win well.

Hard to get a feel for how good the dogs are until you play at the home of football (Sydney a good example last night).

What I do know is if player don't perform there are 4-6 ready and able to take their place.

MFC & Frawley made him a household name

Didn't do much else that game. Averaged 15.5 possessions against us last year.

Stringer is the bigger worry for us.

Vince to shut down Bont like he did at the G last year.

Stringer needs close attention. When they played Hawthorn Stratton wore him like a glove all day. Whoever we send to him, whether Garland or TMac, should just run with him all day. I worry that with a zone defence Stringer will use the open spaces to do what he likes.

3 brownlow votes

Yes, because the umpires were clearly seduced by that goal.

Most match reports had him amongst the top 5 best but nowhere near BOG.

17 touches, 3 marks, 2 goals. There was at least 5-6 players better than him that day.

But hey, we better watch out for Jamar next time we play Essendon, he got 2 Brownlow votes that day...

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. 2024 Player Reviews: #13 Clayton Oliver

Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury.
