One of the key reasons structured defensive footy like the Eagles' doesn't win in 2016, is because teams are moving the ball so quickly. The Eagles can't set up their defensive structures.

I thought they made a big show a couple of seasons ago of saying they were going to fine players or award free kicks for staging. Whatever happened to that?

Wait for it when we do our first obvious stage. I think we are the most paid against for deliberate out of bounds. Some of them have been absolute shockers.

The guy has a shocking attitude. Came in full view in last years final versus North Melbourne. The bloke wasn't even trying.

Jetta looks a shadow of his best days at the Swans.

Watch Everitt at about the 25 minute mark of the last quarter. Drops his third simple mark for the quarter, doesn't chase or put pressure on and then puts up his hand as if to say sorry.

If Bolton is fair dinkum he is out next week.

And after all his whinging about that meanie Paul Roos for playing him in defence last year, when all he wanted to do was lazily hang in the forward line waiting for the midfield to do all the work for him. After all, didn't Bucks promise Howe that his defending days were over at the Pies?

Dear oh dear, we have sold them a lemon! :roos:

Their supporters are waking up to it too. They're not too happy with their boom recruits Howe and Treloar.

Given the players they're now missing, not sure he can do much more than he's doing. The group does look disillusioned though.

Have the Bulldogs been outside this year?

Nope. Next week the Doggies will look at the sun, get scared that something so big and bright could exist, and lose.

Defender had his head ripped off, nothing.

Thompson grabbed the ball, tackled by two straight away - holding the ball.

Stringer runs with the ball, tackled, ball dropped - play on.

20-5 dogs way, the crows captain should approach the umpires at the break and have a quiet word to them and ask what odds they got on tonight's game.

Blatantly against the crows tonight.

Adelaide have had a shocking run this year, but how many years have they got a dream run with the umps over in SA? The answer is many.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
