Disappointing Oliver's not in. We could probably use him instead of Frost especially at Etihad where a fast track means you can be caught out playing too many talls. I know Frost isnt slow but still

DEFINATELY!!! POOR SELECTION IMV

Yeah well why rest him if the intention was that he wasn't going the play te following week. Shocking and poor management IMV!

You know he's played four games right? And the team didn't exactly have any passengers on Sunday night. If he comes into the side, who goes out?

Looks like the coaching and fitness group do not see any lingering effects of the short turn around compared to the Saints. Hope they are right. Would hate to see us run out of legs in the last quarter.

I would have liked to see Oliver come straight back in after his rest but can see the thinking behind minimal changes given the form and results the team has had over the last couple of rounds. it might be good for the young fella to understand that he is not a walk up start at this stage. This also reflects the situation we have at this point with a lot of good, inform players trying to get into a winning team.

Neither of those play in his position.

For the sake of team balance, and fitness, let him play in the VFL.

He's an 18 year old kid ffs.

If as some posters have speculated he needs to build a tank then he wouldn't have gained anything from not playing last week ! An in retrospect he is now behind the 8 ball> Don't agree at all with this!

must be out of favour, picket. probably get traded out at this rate

Says more about your understanding of player management  than player management itself. It is obviously not about form. The club has a team of fitness professionals who closely monitor loads and performance both on match day and at training and would know a touch more about managing a first year player than you, but hey, that's just my view.

Why did they just rest him if they weren't going to play Oliver the following week?

Shouldn't  he have played at Casey?

Unless he had some soreness or a tiny niggle.

I wish you would give it a rest, carry on like a petulant child every Thursday night!

Fwiw I am disappointed Oliver misses, but I now have faith that we know what we're doing.

Maybe he needed an actual proper rest?

He's an 18 year old kid in his first year of senior footy who played 7 games of senior footy in a row, including a limited pre-season.

Disagree Picket. Petracca for Brayshaw is like for like.

Oliver for Frost is not, Frost has been doing well as a quick defensive forward who can also provide a target/spoil...

and Harmes has a more versatile game than Oliver at present, and is playing his role(s) well...

As I said in my original post, leave it to the professionals. We can both agree that he wasn't left out for poor form, therefore I leave managing of 1st year players to the fitness staff who may actually have a bit more insight ( coupled with a degree of two) into these types of decisions.

I think it's more that they are now very aware of the work loads on first year players.  Brayshaw was spent by midway through last season.

Oliver is a 10 year prospect, he'll play plenty of footy. No need to over do it early

I really question the rationale and decision making regarding the managemnet of Clayton Oliver Rested last week and if not injured then he should have been a walk up start this week. His impressive form in all but his latest game ( two weeks ago) demanded his reselection. If he doesn't play I don't like it OR agree with it.

Terrible player management IMV!

agreed, he should have come in before Tracca

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
