Much like our punishment for "bringing the game into disrepute..but definitely not tanking", Essenson have been punished. There have been some detours along the way, but they've been punished. How do you want to further punish them? More fines? Jail time? The club is stuffed for years to come. I hate them as much as anyone but get serious.

Your protest on the grounds they haven't been punished is flimsy at best, and ultimately meaningless. Attend the game and support YOUR team.

This is a game I'll attend with relish. I went to the Essendon game last year and promptly went to Dan Murphys, bought a bottle of Oban whiskey and drank a third of it. Who says alcohol is not the answer ????

The last Dees/Bombers game I went to was when Jordie was involved twice in our last passage of play which saw the ball ultimately fall into the hands of Salem who calmly slotted the goal.

It would be very disappointing for our players if the ground was only filled with opposition supporters. We should be there for our players not theirs. This is a game that we dare not take to lightly, they will have 24 players out their trying their best to beat us to prove a point. We need to have our best 24 players out their to prove our point and to take the points. Essendon's VFL side pantsed us last year, we must not let that happen again. Every demon support who can go should be there to cheer our team on and boo the opposition when appropriate.

P-Man, I have not critised your view, you have been unable to answer the questions I posed, perhaps because it does not suit your argument. 

I donate money every year to our club, I have my view about Essendon and that is different to yours. I will barrack for our team from home. I hope we win and those attending have a great day.

 

Edit:- P-Man it is a five hour round trip for me and that means plenty of thinking time. The EFC saga rolling around in my head for that period of time is enough reason not to go. I hope you and all the other supporters that go have a great day and enjoy beating the cheats. It is too hard for me to forget  and I don't need the anger that I feel watching EFC and co.

What questions? The ones about penalties? My previous answer will suffice. The fact they were not handed down after the CAS verdict is largely irrelevant. You should know the convoluted way the AFL works. The facts remains the club has been punished significantly.

If you are a long distance away then of course that changes things. I am in the same situation though I should hopefully be able to make it down. I assumed you were local. If however you are mainly choosing not to go because you feel a couple of dollars to Essendon (who are millions in the hole anyway and about buried deeper) outweighes the importance of supporting the MFC, then I'm afraid what you're really boycotting is your right to say that your loyalties lie first and foremost with the club.

It is the first game of the season, at our home ground, in a vitally important start to the year, in what is a pivotal season for the team's development, where we will be vastly outnumbered by opposition supporters to begin with. Within THAT context, I believe that your boycott is petty and ill-considered.

The one thing I do appreciate is your distaste for the EFC and what they've done to our sport. But this isn't the right way to express it.

Do you not remember the game against this exact team last year?  Yes we kicked badly but Essendon managed to beat us with a vastly under-strength team (which will be similar to 2016), coming off a 110 point loss to St Kilda.

I assume you are either a MFC or MCC supporter  & unless you choose otherwise there should be no monies sent Essendon's way.  I totally agree with Dave Colberts tirade this morning & I think it is a really good idea with his comment that all other football supporters should turn their backs when they commence their applause ......I would rather show my displeasure publicly than not turn up to support my team
