Fitz is flying at the Hawks

Hawthorn are in a position whereby they can just fill their list with role players. The Hawks are all about structures. They look for role players. Whoever fits their structure better, what is missing. They managed to get decent use out of Cheney (who was of no use to us). Just because someone leaves Melbourne, and performs at Hawthorn (new club), doesn't mean they would've performed to that level, had they of stayed at MFC. I expect Fitz to play a role at Hawthorn, especially now Roughead is unavailable (in the short term).

As with any player that leaves us. If they weren't performing or had "issues" I really couldn't care where they go or how they go. Only that they go.

Narky I know. That's me

Hey Beelzebub, just saying i really like your posts and all but was just wondering, is your pursuit of happiness and catching it relying on our beloved football club having the ultimate success?

No. It would make me delirious if that transpires but I took Melbourne out if the equation decades ago. Only way to stay happy and sane. Dees winning is a bonus :)

I thought there was more to Fitzy than what he was doing and getting at Melbourne, I'll be happy for him if he manages to make it at the Hawks, I just hope it isn't against us!

did you say that when we dropped Martin?

But then Stef often showed something . Not sure what Fitzy  delivered to ever get excited about. Hawks see it differently, that's fine.

Yes! I suppose we could look at in automotive terms.  We need a reliable  engine, gear box, drive shaft and differential. They need consumable service parts like tyres, light globes  windshield wipers, spark plugs and oil filters. They get these cheap parts from us.

On the Hawks Landcruiser I think Fitzy might be those antler horns that you stick on the front driver and passenger Windows around Xmas.

The trouble is baby giraffes grow up and don't stay unco forever. I have an idea we bailed out on Fitz too early. Unfortunately that tunnel ball incident unfairly defined him.

Umm...they sort of do? (see them drinking - looks like they're getting ready to tunnel ball!)

He got to sit in the premiers coaches box in three consecutive GF's.

In fairness though - he left as he thought he had more left to offer on the field and the club didn't  - the MFC were right in this.

However I do draw the difference between the club then and now and point to Daniel Cross - I think Crossy thought he had more to offer on the field but we quietly moved him from on-field to off-field.

Cam Bruce excelled in his 10 games over two seasons dressed as a toilet bowl.

He had a slightly elevated idea of his worth .

But he left because he thought he had more than a year of footy left in him. His coaching accomplishments are irrelevant.

He took less money to play with the Hawks.  He was atrociously dealt with by MFC.  He was a much better player than he was given credit for.

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form
