Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Please Saty, we love/hate having you back. This is one of the latter. A finger injury isn't a valid excuse to be underdone, but it is what it is and Jeff can build his fitness back and still play well.

I popped down, they were doing full match simulation the whole time I was there. White, Salem, Jetta, Garland where the best users out of half back line.

So Salem played off half-back instead of wing ?

Based on 3 games, a bit of a different criteria for Sam than that which you have for evaluating other players is the squad?

I wouldn't expect an Englishman who's never played the game to understand.

I was very much impressed by Jack Trengove who was training on the far side of the ground. The way he was going it looked like he isn't too far off joining the main group. Of course, I don't know how he feels and I don't know what the medics are saying but I didn't see him skip a beat. He was working with a couple of assistants in red tops and I thought one of them might have been Daniel Cross but I'm not 100% about that.

another tragic out at Casey for a little bit this morning, spoke to Petracca for about 5 minutes, straight from the horses mouth, he is a week ahead of schedule will start running next week has no pain, when he first did it, he didnt think much of it, iced his foot then went for a run the next day and felt fine, it wasnt until he kicked a footy that it hurt.

Anyway doesnt expect to play NAB challenge but will play a praccy match and is on track for round 1, in his words, "he will be playing somewhere"

whether that is Melbourne or Casey is not up to him but you would think if he is good to go it would be on the MCG.

I must say he is a very positive individual!  said the boys are really improving and putting on size.  the focus this preseason has been on attack he tells us, expect to see a different team this year, must say got a little bit excited!!!!! Go Dees

Tell me Doc Evil, was he smiling? Dirty, stinking, bustard. I'm just hoping it was a grimace. I can handle a grimace...but grinning is a spit in the face for the club imo

I guess that shows that there is some good in everyone.  Nice tip.

He could freeze Dawes, if and when fit, and Pedersen out of the second tall forward spot.  That would be good news.

You've lost me, no injuries how do we look up forward, how many talls? I think we should only have Hogan/Watts and one other.

Jeff came back a little bit underdone and it was similar to last year. He normally does a lot of boxing, but with a finger problem, he wasn’t able to do any boxing. So we’re just getting him back up running and he’s one that we all believe can go to another level again in 2016, as we all saw what an impact player he was in 2015.” – Paul Roos

Thats a slight whack to me "Jeff came back a little bit underdone and it was similar to last year."

just because you can't box does not mean you can't run, swim, ride etc. no professional player with a finger injury should come back unfit.

Howdy Gremlins,

I think that's what he meant  -  tall forwards = Hogan, Frost & Watts.

(thank you all reporters  -  great reading)

Dear dear me   Jeff had an issue at the start of last pre season as well    I have spoken to a few of the players who have told me when unhindered Jeff is one of the best trainers at the club   up and running means unhindered   but continue to look for the negatives if u must

As if they'll say he is a rubbish trainer to a bloke behind the fence.  Everyone else's points are valid - a stuffed finger doesn't mean he can't do other things to keep himself in shape like the rest of the list would.  It smacks of a bloke who was a little bit slack over the break and didn't so enough to keep himself in shape.

Cheers to the reports as well guys.  The positive is that we are slowly adding more players to the main training group and we have less in the rehab group.  We can't complain with that.

Hi Big S  -  many of us agree with you, so I think that responding to differing opinions only leads to pages of cwap.

Im not looking for negatives, I'm seeing reality. A professional athlete should not let a little hurt finger mean he does not come back from break in peak fitness, laziness does.

A best trainer when unhindered should also be the best trainer/rehaber when hindered. When we expect and get 100% from each and every player we may even win 10 games in a season.

I am no pro athlete but 4 years ago i did my finger actually 2 weeks before we finished up for our Xmas break. I was filthy as i had been training fairly hard and i also started new weights program. Over the break all i did was a mix of Cycling/Swimming and doing a running program at the local athletics oval. To my surprise i came back and finished 2nd in the 3km time trial and set a new PB for myself.

Moral of the story is that there is no excuses for Garlett whatsoever. Plenty of high intensity cardio you can complete with a finger injury.

Love reading all these training reports, thank you to all who made it out to Casey fields on a pretty wet day and reported back here.

There is a lot to be excited about over this pre season and it feels a bit more justified this year compared to the last few but only time will tell! Go Dees, bring on Round 1.

Having a kick and giggle in your 20's isn't the same as growing up with the game and understanding its nuances, but kudos for having a go, chap.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
