Funny reading through this thread that as soon as Prestia is strongly linked to another club, nobody wants him and said club would be throwing away their future.

He is a gun and worth what Richmond are quoted to be offering. If we're not in the race it's probably because we don't want to be but it doesn't make Prestia a bad target for Richmond.

Its a bad target in terms that their list is putrid and they need a complete revamped through the draft. Throwing away a 1st round draft pick for a guy with a dodgy knee on top with no 2nd rounder this year is just spelling for more trouble at Tigerland.

Prestia is what they need but not right at this minute if that makes sense.

They need good players and Prestia is a very good player. He'll be a good addition for them if they can seal the deal.

Rebuilding through the draft is very difficult (as we all know) and Prestia is still young enough for Richmond. I don't think he suits our needs, but he will be well worth the trade for the Tigers if he can get on the park.

Surely Ricgmond aren't going to give up a top 10 pick and $700,000 for Prestia. That would be complete madness. The recruiting staff need a medical check

you do understand..Richmond...and...Complete Madness are not mutually independent !!

700k is not as much as it sounds. The average wage these days is 350k.

17 x 350,000 = 5.950 million (let's say 6)

5 x 700,000 = 3.5 million

Theres a clubs best 22.

So if the salary cap is 10.6 million that means 17 players are getting 1.1 million between them.

Let's assume Richmond do land Prestia, so now they have a sixth player at 700k (contracts at various stages) That leaves 16 players splitting up 400k.

Ok, you do understand "average" means it's the average over everybody right?

You give me the breakdown then. I went average for best 22.

How many players in Hawthorns side are average?

How many players in Geelongs side of 07 - 2013 were average?

How do you work out an average Stuie?

I actually thought I was being fair by just including best 22 players.

Do your own maths mate, you clearly need the practise.

I think that it it is more to do with the possibility that Richmond is a better fit, that Richmond need that type of player more than we do, and are therefore willing to pay.

It could be that posters see the money best spent elsewhere, and it remains to be seen but our FD may see it the same way.

Still it is only August, and anything could happen.

Clubs are being smarter, a team wins flags not 4 or 5 players.

Well the average (350k) is over all the players right? So, if you have players on 700k then it means all the other players aren't on 350k because the 700k bumps up the average. Get it?

I'll give you a microcosm... Let's say it's over just 2 players. If one player is on 700k, then the other player is on 0, because the average is 350k.

You made the claim, you give me the breakdown. I used your figures, please explain where I've gone wrong, and please answer the question, who out of Geelong/Hawthorn are average.

well take 5 players and $3.5M out of the equation and it leaves an average for everyone left of about $185k-$200k depending on how you do the math

just for the sake of clarity..there can only be ONE average...there can also be a Median

We might also consider what might be Typical.

Gotta love maths ;)

Exactly. Hopefully now BA can understand and you also understand the difference between average and minimum.

Yes- median salary must be something like $9.1 million divided by 41.

$9.1 mill is the annual cap.

41 is the amount of players on list.

The outliers are guys like Buddy and Tippet who ruin the whole team ethos.

For the unwashed

Average is simply the total players payments divided by the total number of players

Median is , if you lined up all the values of payment to the players what number would represent the middle order of payment.

and now we all move on

Ave Salary must be 221.95k which nobody gets.

So median is what most guy get right?

But they all get different amounts.

I nominate for POTY.

It's a Demonland tradition that players who leave the club (Frawley, Howe) or don't join the club like Prestia, suddenly diminish in ability. Conversely, players that join the club like Melksham are far better than their record suggests.

Prestia is only 23, and a sound investment by Richmond.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
