  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Did Schwab treat his position as a real job? :)

Many would say no ... has any other CEO of a footy club become involved in other such superfluous notions?

Schwab was protected here too ... it was only near the end of his tenure when the pendulum really swung. For the most part, he had a large majority of support on this site ... oddly enough, many footy fans I spoke to couldn't stand him and thought he was damaging our club.

It must be noted that Schwab was our CEO when we went from 5 million in the red to 8.9 million in the black (that also happened in a very short space of time) Most would attribute that turnaround to Jimmy Stynes and I lean that way as well. However, it does stand that he was our CEO during that turnaround.

I think it would have been better if Jimmy had played more a Don Scott role (fundraiser and figurehead in chief) rather than taking on the actual presidency. We obviously appreciated his hard work to get us out of debt but he did enable the 'boys club' culture that allowed Schwab to come on board.

I won't comment on the other superfluous stuff that you mentioned Macca (I have said enough thus far so maybe I'm too fargone). One nice thing about Demonland in 2015 (and to a large extent 2014) is that CS's name had almost become like a vague pop culture reference like Kriss Kross or DJ Skat Kat. We don't hear much about him and I like it that way! ;)

i once saw bobby and laurie

Anyone (presumably under the age of 50) want to confess that they thought dc was referring to Flower and Fowler?

My confession is to a fear that the Norm Smith Curse isn't real but the Demonland curse is. Has anyone else noticed at the top of the screen "Demonland Est 2000". And how many Grand Finals have we played in since?

As new information has come to hand, I've changed my stance a number of times with regards to Jimmy, DB, CS and the people who stood on our various boards. We've all had to really.

Hindsight tells me that Dean Bailey wasn't given a proper pathway with which he could forge his plan.

Jimmy was a marvelous man who's heart was always in the right place - despite all those putrid on-field seasons he will forever be remembered by me for getting the club into the black ... to this day, our bottom line is still in the black.

As for the boards and CS - the less said the better. In their own way they did their best but they fell way short.

As for the present & future ... in comes PJ followed not long after by Roos ... from there, nearly all the decisions, acquisitions and forward planning looks to be the right ones. As always, time will tell.

I confess that Robert Flower is still my all time favourite Demon player.

I confess that I do not ride scooters, nor have a beard.

I confess that the likes of Nasher, WJ and Demonland are the best.... since sliced bread.

I confess that I have warned, suspended and banned other Demonland posters. Quite rightly I might add.

I confess that I will warn, suspend and ban D'Land posters in future. Like sands thru the hour glass......

I confess to having written a training report previously during a pre-season. Among others there. Weird kind of feeling, but great to get out of my comfort zone. (Appreciate reports by the way)

I confess I have a deep deep hatred for anything Hawthorn. Very envious. And everytime I see the coaching box of late, I feel somewhat ill to put it politely.

I confess to not having watched all volumes of Whiteboard Wednesday a few years back. Thank goodness.

I confess to feeling pumped when hearing the story of how CS wrote down on the back of a beer coaster in front of Slobbo...picks 1&2 Scully, Trengove,...and when we nailed the recruiting of Clark during trade period. Didn't they work out well for us. There's still one hope....

I confess to feeling so relieved when we lost to Richmond in '09.

I confess to being very angry when Michael Long ran through Troy Simmonds in the 2000GF. I don't think I've ever been as angry since - oh wait - yes there is, the 2002 Semi v Adelaide. Yep, the TV copped it.

And finally, I just love every time we've been KOTD one way or another, the last being..obtaining picks 3 and 7 through smart wheeling and dealing following the rules.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
