Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Differing opinions

Time to move on. I am more interested in current and future postings about football.

Most of the time posts reflect a variety of opinions that are worth reading. The Essendon drug saga was a case in point. Sure it dragged on to saturation point, but there were many well informed and intelligent views expressed on this the matter.

However, material life is temporary and posters life on this site is temporary. People come and people go. However, I suspect that many lose patience and depart this site due to the ridicule and at times trivial criticisms of others. It's just a waste of time.

I have never met Saty nor do I wish too. Assuming he has left this site for greener pastures its time to forget him. He seems to me just an ordinary guy who had his faults but was trying to do the right thing by posting training reports. Some liked them some didn't. . But it really is a waste of time to spend time talking about the past and dredging up the same old stuff. This is of course part of the deal with social media. If you don't like it don't use it. However, with Saty or whatever name his goes under its time to forget the past and move on. Forgive and forget.

Ernie you have a fairly grim view of history.

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it". George Santayana or later Churchill's "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it"

Stuie at it again hammering people for having a different opinion to Satyr or pointing out the fact that Satyr was actuaully full of nothing but hot air.

Yes he went to training and chatted (bothered) to all the players. But his observations of player skills was useless compared to others that post training reports. I mean really.

And when the [censored] was really flying inside the club back in 12-13 Satyr would attack anyone who questioned club stability. He was blinded

And as i said at the time These people can be dangerous when times are bad because they wear blinlers.

Wouldn't suprise me at all if Schwab gave him the odd bonus to talk up the place on here

The reality of which we are still to know the full extent...

Funny how you bag out someone else's contributions when you're nearly up to 26,000 posts of the same stuff over and over.

As I posted just 3 days ago:

WYL only ever has three answers he chooses from:

1) We suck/sucked

2) It's an AFL conspiracy

3) It is/was Schwab's fault

http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/39395-94-vs-98-forward-lines-which-one-was-better/?p=1183763

I wasn't "hammering" anyone for not agreeing with Saty, I was just saying that compared to posters like yourself who post thousands and thousands (26,000) of the same comments over and over, at least Saty was contributing something constructive and about footy, whether you liked him or not.

Maybe you should go start a Schwab discussion board somewhere.

Just because you posted something 3 weeks ago makes it the Gospel standard doesn't it Stuie...

I know you loved CS but seriously am i wrong?

The sarcasm and blatant rudeness you see on here from some posters is completely unnecessary and is what leads to many threads devolving into sh!tfights.

You can't be a complete ar$ehole in the way you critique someone's else's opinion, and then turn around to claim that strictly speaking, you didn't insult them personally. Belittling someone's opinion in an overtly rude way is insulting. If they fire a personal insult back at you, you don't have any right to call foul. You shouldn't have been an ar$ehole in the first place.

Keep the humour, but a little diplomacy and class wouldn't go astray. Remember you are talking to another Melbourne supporter. They aren't the enemy.

Yeah you're right, back when we sucked there was a conspiracy where our CEO Cameron Schwab probably paid random supporters to write positive things...

You're a broken record.

I think the best role model to look at if you are a new poster on here, and I don't say this to be sycophantic, would be Macca. He and I have had disagreements about tanking. He felt that Hawthorn and Collingwood tanked and it resulted in premierships (I hope I haven't misrepresented him there). I obviously have a contrary opinion that I won't go into here as it will derail my point.

Never once in our arguments have I ever felt insulted, spoken down to or belittled for having an opposing view. At the end of the day, he and I don't see eye to eye on that issue but it doesn't make me think any less of him (and I hope that he doesn't think any less of me).

There's posters I've had respectful disagreements and discussions with here, there's posters who have PM'd me horrible insults about my family.

It's a mixed bag, and unfortunately the bad ones effect most of us more in what our reactions will generally be.

Look, I'm glad Schwab's gone. His heart was in the right place, he tried his best, he just wasn't the right guy for the job.

But come on, suggesting he paid supporters for positive training reports? Bit silly.

Hey mods, can we have a vote out a poster for a week button. Must get 10 separate posters to vote for a holiday. We could have a vote for, to get them back. It would give some posters an idea of how un/popular they really are. I think some are delusional. -That is probably me.

I don't mind the idea as there are a couple of people it would give us a well earned break from but I could see how it could be abused.

It may result also in group think (even more so) taking hold on here.

10 people may be a good number but it's probably not hard to find 10 irrational and/or petty people either.

But isn't it a discussion board? Why should "popularity" even matter?

must say about saty that i could see both sides of the coin

i just preferred to take the good and ignore the bad. not that hard.

he certainly provided food for thought on training and went to a fair degree of effort both to attend and document

upto a point i also enjoyed his jousting with certain posters....very entertaining at times, with neither side exactly covering themselves in glory

what i don't understand is all the regurgitating especially about a fellow demonlander and dees supporter when he's not here to defend himself

move on "lemonsuckers" as saty would say

I only liked Saty's training reports when he posted who was there and described what actual drills, etc were happening. The rest was rubbish.

But good on him for attending and flying the flag

How about voting for them by putting them on ignore, ManDee? Would solve a lot of confrontation, bickering and moderating.

Not yet, still a while before the draft. Let the group flagellation continue. Cleansing for the soul.

A bit in jest there maybe adc!

Not sure of the purpose of the group flagellation when the target is blissfully unaware...Saty hasn't logged on since June!

Maybe it is easy for posters to pot someone who can't answer back. That's not very macho and can't say I care much for that type.

Methinks the comments say more about the posters than they say about Saty alias 'The Devil Inside'.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
