Slobbo's top 50

Looking at Slobbos top 50 and Bernard made it at number 43. Only Melb player.

Was surprised to see Hurley at 19, I don't think his season was great. I rate him, but more 25ish.

Thought?

No one from Geelong made it on the list so this year I'm taking the 'it's a great list and everything is pretty much spot on' line.

I thought Glenlivet would make it above Fosters

Selwood is a great player, but he had an ordinary year. No way he is in the best 50 players of the season. So fair call by Robbo to leave him out. As Huggy Bear said "you just went up a notch in my book, that puts you at notch one".

Agree on his year wasn't great but the all love him, that's where the surprise was.

When was there last a Melbourne player in the Mike Sheahan/Mark Robinson end of year top 50?

Jones was #43 last season. Not sure when the last time we had someone above #20 was, let alone in the top 10.

Not worthy of a discussion topic.

Touche !! Why bring the opinions of this person to the forefront in demonland ??

He had a Wet Toast ruckman, fresh off his 4 posession Grand Final in the low 20s.

Surely a matter of time before Chris Dawes Jesse Hogan bursts onto this list...

Stop making stupid people famous!

I still find it amazing that he's Gerard Whately's side-kick on AFL 360.

Arguably the best commentator/television host coupled with a bloke who knows very little about the game and translates that fact so well.

Gerard W would feel quite at home with this bloke because he played with Manangatang under 15's

Was Hird named Coach of the year?

Was Hird named Coach of the year?

no need. i think slobbo earlier declared him coach of the century

Back then, Moses did the top 50. But really everyone only cared about the top 10, which he carved in stone.

Saw it this morning and read no further.

After the last couple of years of his Hird / Essendrug fawning he has zero credibility IMO.

surprised slobbo can count to 50

maybe he had help

The gave him two slabs and two tinnies and told him to write the players names on the and arrange them in order.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
