Maybe, but some don't like to play across HF (and some can't play across HF). Hogan demands the ball wherever he is and I hope we don't do what Ross Lyon did to Riewoldt...

Put Hogan 25 out - give him the 50 - work out how to get it there but kicking goals is what he should be doing, not spending all his time as a glorified wing.

No offence to Riewoldt who has kicked over 600 goals but he has averaged more than 3 goals a game only once - in his 9th year.

I would think we need a runner in that CHF slot, someone who can & will cover a lot of ground and have the smarts to leave plenty of space for Hogan to work in.

I'm not so sure about the pressing need for the ruck/forward role as much now with the sub going but less rotations may mean 4 mids on the bench so it could still be a priority. I guess time will tell, it's going to be interesting to see how that one evolves.

Petracca, Trengove and if we go to the draft either Curnow or Balic will provide good marking power forward next year. We need to find that other key forward or forward/ruck...

If Carlton, a team already losing Henderson and light on for key forwards, is allowing or even entertaining the idea of letting Casboult leave, then you would have to ask serious questions as to why. I don't think he would improve our team much at all.

I had the impression we were looking to play frost upfield in 16..possibly as the Hogan foil.

Roos and Mahoney have been at pains on a couple of occasions to say that Frost will be a defender. Was played forward this year due to a needs scenario.

Obviously that isn't to say we wont need him to play there again in 2016, but it's been mentioned on several occasions that they see him settling in defence.

Mahoney also said as recently as Tuesday that we need more support in the forward line for Hogan. Casboult fits the fill IMO, don;t know what it would take to get it done though?

Same.. I remember last year I proposed a trade of Watts for Casboult when Malthouse was really keen on Watts and I got absolutely flamed for it..I think now majority of people on demonland now would do that trade in a heartbeat.

The only reaon I could think of is that they're very confident on getting all of Tomlinson, Walker & Plowman in to go with Weitering at Pick 1 in the draft. Think they could be ok with key position players?

Casboult is a (very) poor man's Hogan, nothing more. He isn't worth anything like Watts - someone who gets it 15-20 times with excellent delivery inside 50 as a third tall.

Hogan mentioned Frost in his Rising Star acceptance speech as being a key part of our forward line (along with Kent) . Couple that with rumours about Dawes being shopped around and I reckon we think we've got our second key forward.

Edit - I remember we were into Lynch from the Crows - he is the sort of KPF we'd be after as a foil for Hogan, especially if Frost does eventually move back.

Is a great way to go about it too, builds sustained success and a good culture. The club are constantly on about a period of sustained success, no flash in the pan crap. The wait may be longer but the rewards should be greater.

Well, the rotations restriction and the removal of the sub will mean that there will be more 'resting mids' in the forward line, it may open up a bench spot for a pure ruck but I doubt there will be teams who will do that often. You just can't justify a blokes place in the 22 if he is on the field for 30 mins a game.

The necessity to have a 2nd tall who can ruck is diminished but still remains as it will allow you to play another mid or back rotation.

Would love him at our club, I rate him. Great skills, aggression, goal kicking and a good size.

Not necessarily a list need but he is certainly in the bracket of 'top end talent' that you want at your club.

I wouldn't be surprised if Melbourne has inquired about Lennon.. He fits in that bracket of recruiting someone who has played AFL and a preseason under their belt and is a real competitor and is also a youth player. Mahoney keeps pressing the fact that we are looking at bringing in real competitors to the club.

Disagree was finally looking like he belonged in the lead up to the finals and IMO cemented his place in their best 22. Certainly put together a good run of games let alone 4 good quarters, Dimmer dropping him for the final certainly backfired

He's had a fairly interrupted start to his career because of injuries and like Salem showed glimpses in his first year when used predominately as a sub.

He's actually had some really solid games in the VFL so I'm not sure why you say that.

I agree that we have a handful of guys who play that half-forward role who we're trying to develop. But given his height, speed and kicking, I think he could also be given a role on a back flank.

Don't want Casboult. Not only can't he kick, but a more agile tall like Gunston or Stringer is the go.
