Newspapers as we know them are dying a slow death. The way the Melbourne Age is looking these days whenever I pick it up in a local cafe, it is one of those for which the last rites are pending in the near future.

I hope that doesn't prevent us from getting access to pieces like this, written by a gifted footballer who suffered some bad injuries and became a gifted writer ~ Soiling a dream

Without trying to hijack the thread, I note that the Age has become little more than a refuge for your 'right on daddyo' Will Anderson types (I'd exclude some of the sports writing) and an underlying premise that there's no fish and chips worth eating unless they're within a 10 km radius of the CBD. 'Random' interviews in respect to any issue appear to invariably involve social content managers from Fitzroy or food bloggers and lifestyle coaches from Kew. In short, it's become an almighty wankfest.

Articles painting any anti-muslim sentiment as immediately racist, though Africa and the Middle East are at war with ISIS. As are Australia.

Articles on food suggesting fat free muesli then next to it a special calorific recipe.
