Apart from Melksham, and despite not having a first Round pick (and apparently committing our second pick for Hibberd), I think that Jason Tayloris going to rock the AFL World again this trading period with a major coup out of left field!

Surprised by the negativity here. If we pick up Hibberd as well, we are getting two experienced quality players in a good age bracket where we are lacking. Both are comfortably in our best 22. Melksham has decent pace, aggression and a decent kick too. Some of his kicks inside 50 or long running goals will be valuable to us. Hibberd brings a quality lock down defender who provides great rebound. He'd immediately become our best half back flanker, though Salem and Hunt both have the potential to surpass him.

We should be excited we have 1, perhaps 2, quality experienced players coming in who can fill multiple roles and add a bit more aggression, pace and kicking skill to the side. Melksham can play half forward, midfield and half back, so he adds lends flexibility. Our currently gameplay with the half backs rushing forward to provide drive suits him perfectly. I wouldn't be surprised if Goodwin created the tactic knowing he'd have players like Melksham at his disposal. He won't be just depth, he will be a lock in the 22 for the foreseeable future. It's another good get by Jason Taylor. Let's hope Hibberd joins us too!

Look at the way Norf is still looking to top up. Older players with only a few years left, while trading away their future youth, leaving no room for a rebuild.

We have the quality youth already. Actually, we are over flowing compared to many other teams. To echo another poster, I have put the Melksham suspension behind me now.

Melksham and Hibberd are just what we need. 

Agree on both Melksham & Hibberd (if possible) probably would have won the Blues & Dons games with these two in our side, they add pace, kicking ability and a tougher edge to our young back line or where ever the coach play's them. Welcome Jake. GO DEE's!!

Me too. I'm more excited by Hibberd than Milkshake but I think milkshake has more to offer positionally ie wing and midfield. Hibberd, you would expect, will play HB

The reason a lot of the drugs are put on the banned list, is that they are experimental and the authorities have no concrete proof that they work or not, it is supposition.

Your constant use of 'juiced up' is childish, as you have no idea how much and when, if any, that Melksham was given a performace enhancing drug or just a banned substance, and if it did have a significant impact on his  onfield performance.

All players we think should be traded would, according to some posters on here, have very little trade value, also Goodwin was more bullish about the draft, and Taylors magic around the 40's and 50's and rookie

It's a whole different challenge but we clearly recruited Jake with the idea in mind that he'd play off half back and essentially play the role Jayden Hunt is playing, now with Hibberd likely coming on board, Salem mostly playing that role and Hunt playing great footy we have to re-think where he's going to play. 

I personally think he has the attributes to be a pressure forward, he's quick, creative and a good tackler and i really think that high half forward role is one he could really do well, but obviously it'll be interesting.

Another pre season into both Hunt and Salem and the can rotate thru midfiekd and wing. Melksham is a professional footy player he'll be ok, players soend a year out with ACL, reckion he will be one player in top shape day 1

The big difference being that a year out within an AFL club means a rehab program within the four walls of the club with day to day coaching by some of the best fitness staff around, he's missed that for the better part of 12 months, while i'm sure Mission has given him his program ect it's definitely not going to be the same as actually working with him every day. 

Time will tell, i was against the recruitment of Melksham at the time and still very unsure it was the right move, especially given what we gave up but time will tell.

Funny how players become so good during a non playing period of almost 2 years, Milkshake and Hibberd were very ordinary in their last seasons for Essendrug. Milkshake is ours so fully support him, but imo Taylor should weave his magic with our first pick rather than blowing it on a 27yo convicted drug cheat in Hibberd.

Over the years I have read many opinions on drugs in sport, but these two justification propositions are truly remarkable. You criticize SWYL comments as childish, however, your comments are truly foolish.

Abe you tend to read players on long term injury can find it harder as they feel isolated from the team even though they are at the club. They spend all of the time with the physio's and others in rehab group, missing out on the other team stuff.

I had a chat with Jack Trengove in about Febuary this year and he definitely described it as a very tough time, you just want to be part of it especially with how exciting it is at our club right now, but i still think that is much much better than being out of the club and AFL system totally for 12 months, it might take Melksham a little bit longer to get back into it, again not saying it 100% will but i would understand if it did.
