I don't have the energy anymore to respond to the Grimes haters. Grimes has 9 of the 10 qualities required to be universally accepted as a legend of the club. Those that continually criticise his inclusion are not capable of helpful analysis.

It's called Fremantle putting the cue in the rack and desperately trying to avoid any injuries.

Tend to agree.. Whilst i think we did show a little more effort after qtr time its hard not to think that it was mostly due to freo taking the foot off the pedal.

In saying that, it had trainwreck written all over it 5 mins into the 2 nd qtr so im OK with the end result. Gee we need some clean ball users over the coming trade n draft period, our skills are abysmal.

Sadly, Michie and Newton can't run. Big ground exacerbated the issue. Riley has always been my favourite of the three but his engine is also a concern. I'm a little confused by the Footy Dept thinking here. ANB, Stretch and Brayshaw, however, know how to cover the ground and will all make it. They all crack in, all use it pretty well and have superior engines to the recycled trio above. We've been burnt before but I'd be putting my faith in the draft again as opposed to looking for recycled second and third year mids who are currently outside the best 22 of their respective teams.

A red hot go?? "Tell him he's dreamin"

I thought he did his ankle, not concussion?

He got kneed majorly in the head and incredulously got a free kick against. I'm still shaking my head in disbelief.

I thought the free was for holding the ball after his fall and the freo player falling over him.

So concussion ( which would explain his delusion) plus ankle!?

The running is a huge problem.

As you've said, the mids who are going to make it are the ones who run. Michie, Riley and Newton either cannot, or will not, run (Michie can, but doesn't do it weekly).

M Jones, as untalented as he is, runs, which is why he keeps getting games (the more so when we're down in talent).

Off-season recruiting must target midfielders who can, and are prepared to, run. I'm sure we'll draft one or two, but we shouldn't exclude bringing in midfielders from other sides. We just need to identify the right talent - Riley, Michie and Newton haven't worked out as well as we would have liked, but doesn't mean we can't keep trying.

Well, he fumbled the ball under little pressure and then took the legs of an opposition player. It's a stupid rule, but the free against was there, IMO.

Basically don't have enough quality players.....

Good core of young talent but our mid to senior players are far off the pace....

Poor kicking skills... All top teams have excellent field kicking skills... Can't have your own players kicking the ball to other team or on the full with no pressure.... Basic fundamental of our game... Makes you wonder what these recruiters were looking at when drafting these players... Hard to teach a player to kick @ 19 after it becomes a habit .....

10 Goals to Nil is a Red Hot Go according to the Captain.

That obviously means they all made the flight on time. Can't be anything else!

What's your excuse for delusion picket?

Do you reckon the players had a "Red hot go today"?

First quarter clearly a "Standout"

Or are you under the same Delusional Illusion of "Red hot Go"?

What did you want him to say "thanks to my teammates for being a giant steaming pile of talentless turds?"

No - he wanted Jones to lament how Riley was overlooked and bemoan a new contract for Toumpas.

yep. It is actually time someone said that.

So tired of spin. Even Roosy said it in the presser

Surely Matt Jones' days in the AFL are numbered. The left foot OOF, followed by the right foot OOF, both times under no pressure - and in the space of 5 minutes was laughably bad. I bet we'll see him again by Round 6 next year though.

Goodness me, I had this Freo supporter directly behind saying "haha, no pressure and look at these Melbourne idiots."

Besides wanting to strangle him, I found myself agreeing with him.

If Matt Jones is kept on the list next year I'll be flabbergasted.

Preparing now.

Any idea who was supposed to be playing on Danyle Pearce?

Just illustrated how much we need some skilled quick outside players. They have Stephen Hill and Danyle Pearce, and we have......Matt Jones?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
