Round 22 (Non MFC Games)

Cracking first quarter between North and Doggies. Enjoying the pressure football that's also quick.

We will get thumped by GWS next week as well sadly.

Gee wiz it is fun watching the Dogs play footy.

Always a little overwhelmed by people on this site who know so much more about footy than I do, but jeez it hurts listening to how the Doggies are going. I love the way they play - so free-flowing, attacking and confident. When will I be also to say that about our mob?

I hate the way we mostly play - if we do get the ball, our first reaction seems to be to stand there looking like a shag on a rock and then dish off a hospital hand pass.

Sorry Cards - didn't mean to steal your thunder - we said the same thing at about the same time.

I hope our guys are watching North v Bulldogs, they could learn something about tackling.

With Vanders, Kent and Brayshaw out have no idea who'll lay the tackles.

What a game, dogs v kangas. End to end stuff, plenty of hard contested ball as well. When the ball comes out both teams just go bang let's move it fwd.

God I love seeing those sookie c Scott twins whinge. GFY Scott.

If we our team had any doubt what 'playing like maniacs' looks like they only need to watch the Bulldogs today!

WB were challenged then fought back, challenged then fought back, challenged then ran away with it.

Awesome performance.

Great win.

Edit. And, they used their 8th debutante for the year, today!

I hope the Dons chit all over the tigs tonight, have a bunch of tig mates who are insufferable.

wow what a turn around by the dogs. After there disastrous off season they have surprised everyone. Now they are playing finals. How exciting for there fans. Lets hope we get there soon. Funny that Ryan Griffen ends up on the bench today with a knee injury while his old team has a great win on there way to September.

I hope the Dons chit all over the tigs tonight, have a bunch of tig mates who are insufferable.

[censored] that. I'd love to see those drug cheats finish with 17 broken legs

Fmd Joe Daniher has the most punchable head in the afl.

How's the jumper clash in the glaring sun today you reckon?

lol West Coast thinks it's Melbourne. How cute.

Last four five to the Eagles...don't write them off just yet. Top spot (and the chance to avoid Hawthorn in the first final) beckons.

However, I love that this year the bottom half of the top 8 are going to be in ripping form in the finals. In fact, right now I'd probably put Adelaide, the Dogs, Richmond and North ahead of Sydney and Fremantle.

It should be an entertaining finals series.

Crows absolutely embarrassing the Eagles today, 50 point lead in the third quarter.

If the Eagles drop next week's game to the Saints, Hawthorn will almost definitely get a home final.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
