Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

My point? That it seems logical to despair and say 'OMG how did we lose to THEM?' but the fact is that footy, more than ever, is a game of one side matching up on another on a given day, and the past performances of side A vs side B has a limited bearing on side A vs C - because the injuries/selections/matchups, gameplans/strageies and heart/psychological state varies between opponents, and even between the same opponent on differing weeks of footy.

Might seem obvious, but it's just a thought I had that made me feel a tiny bit better, and I hope it does for you too.

Nope - sorry. Nothing makes me feel even just a little bit better after losing to the drug cheats on Saturday.

I doubt that I will ever believe or trust our team again.

What the past two posters have conveniently forgotten is that our mood(s) were considerably different two weeks ago when we pulled off what was thrown around as the 'win of the decade' at the Cattery. We sucked this week, and it hurt - but what it says about our long term future is not in any way conclusive.

This should come as no surprise, really, it's well documented that footy supporters can only remember the last thing that happened. You see it within games ("if we win, I'll never post here again" oh look, we won), within years ("can't see us winning another game this year" oh look, we won the next week, make that "pencil us in to win every other game except Freo"), and across seasons ("this is even worse than the Neeld era.". No guys, nothing will ever be worse than the Neeld era).

186?

It was the worst score old dee, but it was isolated and somewhat exceptional circumstance due to the toxic goings-on off the field. For mine it was the catalyst for the wheels falling off, but not the actual worst moment of the whole saga with the reflection of hindsight.

and a draw.

Seems like heaven after the last five.

i'd take it currently. But that says more about my dismay for my clubs onfield effort on the weekend than it does for common sense.

Although our off-field was in far, worse shape back then.

Interesting

The premise of the op boils down to it all about the day( one team v whoever) I agree.

On most days we seem to play sub par.. thats the problem . Simple as that

interesting that you try to throw a positive bone out there, a bone that clearly has merit-rich meat on it, but some are so firlmly entrenched in their misery that they refuse to even nibble

I don't blame you

C and B . You choose a perspective. I see another.

Btw..weve won how many ?...more the point really is how many games have we found a path to defeat when seemingly marching to victory.

Facts are most inconvenient often.

Facts are most inconvenient often.

Did we, or did we not, beat Richmond, Bulldogs and Geelong (and lose to the Saint by 2 points in ridiculous circumstances)?

Seems to me that this is evidence for the defense in the case of 'do we stink or not'?

Others choose to discard it as information non-pertinent to the narrative they have going

Which is it...you either wish to curry your narrative with the nonsense of roundabout winability, which you rightly discard or reintroduce it if suits.

The correct analysis is we have won few games despite nearly winning more but finding a way to lose.

There is nothing of that stance to defend as such for its simply the truth.

We are currently as bad as the ladder describes.

The scoreboard is the one stat that cant lie nor can it really distort for it is what it is....the barometer of the particular contest.

You either win or you lose. We do more of the latter.

As is quipped; the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Must have been authored by a Melbourne supporter!

186 was the wheels falling off. Neeld was the car crusher. Roos signed on in 2013 and Jackson presented him with his team:

Like him or not,,, I would call Neeld the Chaff Cutter. he started the cull in earnest, that has helped Roosy continue the sorting, sifting, & the teaching.

prior to Neeld, our list consisted of :-

2012 season squad

as a side note, I count TWENTY SEVEN on that list who have either disappeared forever or gone to other clubs for modest-at-best returns

of those 27, I count a grand total of ONE who has actually done any damage

that would be stefan martin

26 out of 27 correct calls it would seem

remember that, whingers, next time Martin plays a good game

don't forget to mention the other 26 when you have your whinge

What i have notice this year is probably how even this comp is atm. Every game this year deep down i think to myself we can win any game just a matter of 4 qtr effort like Geelong.

Anywho carry on..

even Steph, would be a correct decision, I'm sorry to say. he had his issues when with us, & he needed a change it seems to get himself back ontrack.

Our culture was so sick, nothing could brow well.

we are well thru a total cleanout; of players, that carried the bug... next we need a clean sweep & diss-infect of lockers, walls, ceilings, property room, medical room, board room (done, apparently), & our staff need inoculation, against that soft complacent Virus. that takes us down every 12 - 15 yearly cycle.

Whichever way i keep looking at it, the loss to Ess was awful. I paint it a different colour and it still looks shite. I dress it in different clothing and it remains weak. Try and treat it in an alternate context, yet we have not improved in years. Rock, paper, scissors? I see not much else but bitter defeat. Where's that kitchen knife.......

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
