GAME DAY - Round 14

Featured Replies

Quick question - are our players the dumbest bunch of idiotic simpletons in the league? Yes or no?

Fair few of them would have to be up there. They just kill us on such a regular basis. One stupid brain fade or turnover and its almost always a goal.

What sort of team just concedes after kicking a goal?!

Yes

Listening to Derm drives me crazy.

"awww yeah he should of done this he should of done that blah blah blah"

Never thought I'd say it but I'd rather hear BT on channel 7 because at least he calls the game.

Brereton is special comments, he is not suppose to call the game.

Bail should not be in team, can't understand how he got game before Riley

And there it is. One kick, Eagles mark.

Their kicking skills make me red and blue with envy...fortunately right up until they have a set shot.

Surely that was a mark to...oh, okay. Nil all draw between the 2008 top 2!

Absolute BS call from the umps. Watts just leaped onto NicNat's back and took the specky over the top of the pack. Umpire calls play on. Utter rubbish call.

Gotta protect Nicnat at all costs.

Yeah ..... We wish.

FMD. That was the best mark of Watts' career and they didn't pay it.

We're still not marking players in the corridor. Probably would have conceded another goal there if the siren hadn't sounded. Of course, if they'd paid that bloody mark we'd possibly have had another goal ourselves. I get so sick of the Umpires changing games like this. If they'd called a fair game we'd be even at worst.

We're in it, need to believe they can win. Unfortunately we need to somehow turn into an efficient kicking side and it won't happen. We need some kick goals and we need some wins and slick transition out of the backline. Should be further behind but it's there for the taking. History tells me we'll either fold or stay even for the quarter. Can't see us getting up

But it's there for the taking.

Can't say we're out of it, but we've also never looked like we're in it either. Weird game. Perhaps this is what it looks like when it busts a gut against a team it is a class below.

Very envious of the way West Coast deliver it to their forwards. Low, fast rockets over and over. Almost undefendable.

We look spent. Hopefully WCE are more spent.

No chance, they'll have a sniff and away they go again

their bullets inside 50m are pretty impressive

hey, at least it's not the usual 100pt blowout

Knowing our luck, we'll get in front and concede a goal because they blow the siren 10 seconds too late every single quarter.

Amateur stuff.

We kick on and then straight away give one away

Clumsy

I make it 5 goals to eagles from 8 frees inside 50..

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
