I just want to share my experience with Phil to you all.

Growing up like many young men, it was always my dream to play afl. So when I got invited to Glenelg u/17 as a 15 year old, I was absolutely stoked. My first season was spread between living in south east south australia and heading to adelaide. My second season was interrupted by issues at home and Glenelg didn't really see a future for me however port adelaide did. As I was now nearly 17 I was in the u/19 squad and the then port adelaide afl midfield coach was in charge of our first session. I remember thinking that I didn't belong at this level but after our initial training and subsequent meeting, Phil told me I had all the attributes to be a solid league footballer. As the season wore on Phil could see issues at home or outside of football were taking their toll and consequently harming my output. The term father figure gets thrown around far too often these days, but that was exactly what Phil was. Half way through year 12 when it became too much and I dropped out on top of a knee injury, Phil drove with me back to the south east to my family home to sit down with my parents to see what we could do to turn my life around. Without going into too much detail, Phil would continue to have a mentoring role with me for a full season after, often calling me after a game to touch base, or see if I'd survived the weekend binge.

Words can't describe the pain I feel today. I haven't spoken to Phil for close to 5 years except for a text to congratulate him on taking over the adelaide , but I'll never forget his influence on me as a teenager going through some turbulent times. The world has lost a great, caring and genuine man today and IL never be able to thank him enough for his time in my life. I know that I'm just one of many young players that he had this effect on and I can only imagine the pain that others, be it afl or never-weres like me are also going through.

I would say you are not a never-were, & somehow feel you carry the phil walsh mantra within you. honour it as best you can, as a good person. care & respect.

A guy that worked for me got into ice. Was a nice polite, studious type for 3 years. Didn't smoke or drink. Then slowly he started acting strange, all wired up and manic. Was getting co-workers offside with his paranoia and verbal aggression and had to go. Only found out he was on ice after he was charged with a serious crime that is in the courts now and also in the news. Ice is the most evil drug around. Has to be stamped out. If there is an ice link in Phil Walsh's murder, I would not be surprised.

Ice is a terrible drug. Having had my fun over the years with party drugs it's the drug I dislike ( and heroin ). I'm a good boy now though.

Any mind altering drug that has an accompanying strength enhancing quality is dangerous . The high is 4 times stronger than cocaine. So your at a party have a toke high for 20 minutes then you feel absolutely terrible a lot worse than you were before so the need to go again is there. Highly addictive and obviously ruins people pretty quickly. My kids will be well educated on this, I'd urge everyone to do the same its everywhere.

I reckon a lot of illness/ cancer will be attributed to ice in the next decade. A guy I knew died of stomach cancer at 33 he was a regular user.

The government needs to ramp up its efforts against omc's on this for a start. They are losing the fight.

It's rare that I would use bad language in a public place but I did yesterday morning. I was walking up Little Collins Street on my way to work and caught a glimpse of one of the TVs in a cafe that was showing Sunrise. I caught a glimpse of a caption outlining the morning's events and I said 'WTF?' out loud. That's how shocked I was.

Others have said things here that I wanted to so no point repeating that.

It's hust unbelievably sad and feels almost surreal.

How else could you stab both your parents repeatedly with a knife & then be found in a different street covered in blood soon after...

It is an enormous problem.

I have done my share of powders pills & Weed over my younger days.

But ice is another level altogether

No one comes back from it the same.

actually adc, negativity, & critically judgmental people & organistions in society , are more damaging, & will likely cause many hurt people to seek out such drugs in the first place... including those who want to make these horrible concoctions, so they can become higher up the totem pole of status.

power & greed are the same imposters disguised as something to aspire to.... they together create all that is bad in humanity.

Yep it is on a completely different level all together... I know blokes who go out on weekend and take various substances in a social environment but you bring up ice and they all have the same few that, that [censored] is completely F####d. I really don't know what the government/police do about this heinous drug.
