I have said it before and I will repeat, I think Brendan McCartney has a lot to do with our progress. I know he has put a lot of time into Gawn and Watts as well as our first year players. Now reaping the benefits

Almost brings a tear to the eye. The realisation of a dream right there.

What are you... bent?

I could cry

I did my little grand daughter rang me with 5 to go and said.

PA the Dess are going to win for you.

Thought the misting up I said for you too.

Well I can dream can't I?

Love that Gawn referenced the game shown on fox footy during the week when Melbourne beat Geelong down there. Belief goes a long way. Hopefully we get more of it.

Interesting isn't it that a player said that, whereas a Demonland poster was able to read the teams defeatist state of mind by just looking at one photo. It will be fascinating to see if SWYL ever decides to admit that his posts on that matter were quite irrational.

Bloody hell. It's time PJ put a rocket through these guys

It is them and only them that can bring respect back to the MFC."

I'm taking tomorrow off the way this Pale Ale's going down.

Can't help but look back at the saints loss and as even bigger missed opportunity. Could have been a game outside the 8 going into the bye.

Still, feels good.

I actually think that loss spurred us on today. All the leaders stood up. That game may go down as our line in the sand moment. We were ferocious today in one of the most hostile grounds in the comp, with aggression at the ball and opponent that i have not seen for nearly 20 years

A very happy day. The Dees beat the [censored] and my daughter is about to give birth to a grandson. Not sure which I'm more excited about. Don't tell my wife I said that.

The whisky tastes good! A fresh bottle bought yesterday to wet the baby's head - not sure there's going to be much left. Ah well, there's always beer or champers.

Had a very good day today Reverand, Pinot with my sister his afternoon, big win on foxtel and now the second single malt for the night.

How is daughter and Grand son?

Put a beanie on him tonight.

Haven't read the whole thread but Jeffy deserves another mention. 4 goals in a performance we're almost coming to expect from him. Love your work Jeffy.

Well, considering the size of the mountain to climb ...

The injuries ...

Our best weapon having to drop out a day before the match ...

Three first year draftees ...

Ordinary games from 3 who have carried a huge share of the burden in the past year or so - T.Mac, Jetta & Tyson (tho' he was better today) ...

Could this be a threshold game, going into the bye? Do we continue with the cohesion and team emphasis we showed today?

Will we kick on from now and be a real threat? Or is it just a one-off?

Not sure I believe that, Selwood has mentioned in the past he respects Jonesy and they played Under 18s together for Vic - same draft class.

WTF is this!

Surely Angus is favourite for the Rising Star now. That intercept mark and charge through the middle was magnificent.

He's much harder than Cripps but I reckon it'll be out of those two.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
