FMD, the umpires really favour the WA teams over there, particularly crucial decisions. Two of Freo's goals resulted from poor umpiring.

The media should probably apologise to Hardwick after he was widely ridiculed for his "Our best can beat anyone" comment. He has been proven right!

They haven't beaten anyone yet...

...but Freo look rattled.

Why are Melbourne wearing Freo jumpers tonight??

Apparently we really caught Richmond at the right time.

Maybe Richmond caught Freo at the right time.

They are playing a very Melbourne type game, no doubt about that.

Safe to say the Toiges have gone right past us since we last met.

Combination of the two it would seem. Richmond have been slick with their ball use, and Deledio isn't the standout for once. They can't put a foot wrong. Even Morris looks like a footballer.

We beat Richmond didn't we?

Richmond missed so many gettable goals against us and kicked 5.16. They are on 13.3 tonight. Sometimes footy is a simple game, just kick it through the big sticks!

I agree. But i hope your not implying that they played better than us on the night...

I just don't know what to make of Richmond. At least we get thrashed by the top sides and do ok against the average ones. They have it backwards somehow.

they always have, they are the giant killers. but fail to wake for games more often than not.

Grimes has been great tonight,

F!ogs.

Pretty average...

The way Richmond are being talked up by the commentators is laughable. Let me remind you that St Kilda beat Fremantle last year and ended up wooden spooners. Richmond have beaten who, exactly? Essendon? Carlton? Brisbane? Collingwood*?

They lost to us (and we seemingly only show up to games once a month) and Geelong (who are on the slide).

*I don't rate wins against Collingwood. Their win against North was special, but they haven't pinched any wins off a genuine contender. In fact, their draw has been enviable, with wins against Brisbane, Saints, Essendon, Carlton, Gold Coast. Let's see how they're travelling after they play Hawks, Sydney and Freo.

They just made a fool out of you and beat a side thats won 9 in a row and right on their home turf.

Who cares if they are beating those sides. Atleast they are winning. Taking the game on with quick ball movement. None of this kick backwards or sideways to slow the play down.. they were daring tonight and i enjoyed watching them.

I would still take their performance over ours this year.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Join us LIVE on Monday night at 8:30pm—note that this special time is just for this week due to prior commitments. We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits. I apologize for skipping our annual season review show at the end of last season. After a disapponting season filled with off-field antics and a heated trade week, I needed a break. Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t
