Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I don't know why people get so freaking worked up over these things.

he offers up some info, whether it turns out true or not, he never states that this is 100%.

If you don't believe him, fine, block him, you don't see his posts. But calling him a peanut is a bit petty, you are better than that Dazzle.

Agree.

Much as i love Vandenberg, with Oliver and Petracca, etc... maybe he'd be traded?!

I'd actually prefer us to trade one of these two then Nibbler. Really think he's going to be something.

What does it say? Herald Sun's paywell is very tight these days.

Jay Clark correctly predicted Oscar McDonald would be picked ahead of Lynden Dunn several days out from Round 1 so I'm prepared to believe he's well connected with the club.

I remember a kid in primary school told me and the other kids his Dad had a Ferrari. He was always late to get picked up by his old man and one day my mum was late as well. He was picked up before me by his Dad who was driving a red Datsun. I questioned him and asked him why he made up the story about the Ferrari, he answered "So I was popular and made friends."

I have no issue with GNF and never have, but it's hardly ground breaking news to suggest Hogan will sign this calendar year or that Prestia, whose family are coterie members and has been linked to Melbourne for years, will be at the Dees next year.  I'd say both are more than likely.

For me it's not what he writes and for what it's worth I read his comments and hope like hell he is right but for other posters to take the pizz is not right.

Hes just sharing his info with us and that's all. Whether u believe it or not is up to u.

For those that can't get past the paywall:

The article just said that Hogan's decision will come down more to prospects than money.  Clark then mentioned Hogan is very happy in Melbourne, he gets along really well with Goodwin and we have plenty of top end talent coming through that suggests we will not only have some sustained success, but that Hogan won't feel as though it will all rest on him.

It's nothing we haven't really heard before, but it had a more positive spin than other articles have had since he put off contract talks.

Yep, and he was laughed at by most of us (Including me!), but he was right.

Especially once we start getting exposure in FTA prime time games, this guy will drag in the supporters.

I think team success will. If you look at all the kids at schools, they are all running around with Hawthorn jumpers. When Buddy was still there they all had 23 on the back, but now they simply just wear Hawthorn jumpers.

Ultimately though, I've never been more confident of winning a flag with a Melbourne team than I am with this list we're assembling and Hogan is a major player in that. Whilst I think we're still a shot at it without Hogan, I want to build a dynasty. I want to do what Hawthorn and Geelong have done. Sustained success. That's the key to a thriving membership base and becoming a powerhouse club again. We're far more likely to do that with Hogan, IMO.

That said, the midfield we're building is seriously scary. It still lacks depth, but it's getting stronger and stronger every year and will continue to, as our younger generation gain further experience. We'll then have the ability to hopefully attract FAs and other trades. Get the midfield right, continue to bring in talent to compliment and reinforce the guys that are in there, and this team in 3 years time could be anything.

The interesting thing being at Fremantle, it will all rest on him and Fyfe and Fyfe has a very serious injury that may not recover 100%

Don't want to lose him, but 15 million over ten years for a forward that doesn't lead, sounds a bit much. Needs to lead more or we need to learn how to deliver it the way he wants it.

JB stated that if he stays at Melbourne, we wouldn't have to pay close to that figure, but more like $10m over 10 years. The $15m is what it would take for Freo to lure Hogan. In 5 years time, $1m per year for an elite player will be an average salary.

Hogan would be crazy to sign a 10 year deal, as others have said the salary caps are getting bigger, in 5 years time he might be worth 2 mil or more a year

I've seen him lead.

Actually, he works quite hard in the 50m arc....

I actually like him when rotates between FF and CHF as he does work very hard at CHF and moves around well - he is currently 9th in the league for marks and i would suggest that many of those have been taken further up the field.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
