Would've liked to see Michie come in given what we will miss with Viney's absence, but I don't mind it. Throws it over to the guys playing at Casey to put in another solid week and really earn their spot.

Total no brainer that change. Shouldn't have been dropped and last week it showed when we had zero run.

If one zippy but not lighting half forward flanker is responsible for your run then you are screwed. Watts, Kent and Garlett are all quicker than JKH anyway! We're still going to have the 3 big men set up so JKH isn't going to be some panacea for our run.

Like this from Roos. Yes we got beaten horribly in the second half but he is giving the players a chance to atone for themselves instead of the typical kneejerk reaction many here call for and that we would commonly see in the pre-Roos era.

Should they underperform two weeks in a row then expect some changes the following week but somehow i do not believe we will be as bad again. Doesn't mean we will win, just a far better performance across the board.

Dawes is lucky to be there IMO. I know it was his first game of the year but he completely stunk it up. Toumpas was dropped for less.

If we had a key forward the quality of Bernie Vince ready to come back in to the side they'd get a game.

Roos is going to back Dawes in for a while because until someone else (Pedersen, Gawn, Frost, Fitzpatrick, Watts whoever) shows they are a legitimate 2nd marking and contesting option it's crazy to leave Hogan one out. It might've worked against a rubbish Gold Coast team but that's not proof it's a good long term plan.

I'd personally prefer Pedersen to Dawes at the moment. Better hands, better kick, more versatile. He has VFL form behind him too.

Dawes is a premiership player who performed exceptionally well in that Grand Final!

Toumpas is???

Judging by recent reports, that's about the only place his current VFL form is.

in the training thread... he didnt take part in some stuff at the start, but was in all the stuff at the end of training.

really hope hes ok...

if we roll Adelaide without Jones and Viney we are officially back in town

Not only back in town but own the whole damn Monopoly board including all houses and multiplexing Mayfair and Park Lane!!!

we're screwed, already short of inside pressure & tackling, & we replace Viney with JKH, so our game plan is to Beat Tex & Co in a shootout, we will be back page news this Sunday

You must have missed the bit where Viney has a broken leg and is out for 426.

Snap!

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
