Geez, Richmond sound desperate to get that big-name talent this year! Seeing as they can't shut up about Treloar choosing Collingwood, they clearly took it personally last year.

Any player dumb enough to go to their club for $900k a year is a fool. Simply irresponsible tying up that amount of money and isn't how you build lists contending for premierships; ergo, Richmond are so far off the mark, yet still appear to be in denial about it!

Hey....they're in the WINDOW ( haven't you heard )  ....Just need a top up !!

When you top-up with has-beens and scraps from better clubs, you end up treading water. They've deluded themselves into thinking their list can win a premiership, which is legitimately hilarious (for non-Tigers supporters).

Just watch them push for finals yet again, finish ~11th-9th this year, and end up with another mediocre draft pick and player rather than the elite talent they desperately want. There's simply too many clubs who want the best picks this year, like Freo and Essendon, to allow Richmond the wooden spoon.

even worse, the club knew it wouldn't win one, they just knew the supporters wouldn't be patient enough to go through a re-build hahahahah

Freo are tanking. Bet they won't get sanctioned the same way we were. AFL are hypocrites.

Can't believe they came out and said that, what a joke. Demonland would have burned down the G if that were us.

not just the afl. the media (slobbo, caro, lloyd, hutchy) are actively supporting/encouraging it and joking about it (cc take note). no discussion of the "evils" of tanking and bringing the game into "disrepute".....bloody hypocrites

I think the MFC would be well within their rights to question this, we got fined 500k for " not tanking"  they're deliberately resting players and putting them on ice to get a high pick.

one might say they've completed vaulted over this problem

That graphic Hutchy put up on FC Monday disgusted it me. It was basically his "How-To-Tank Legitimately" guide for Fremantle, including early surgeries, playing undeveloped kids and "resting" (ie. dropping) their senior players.

Media is full of hypocrites and idiots with short term memories. One rule for some teams, another rule for us, it seems.

That's the rumour. Most of those rumours about money end up being crap.

True, not saying he is going to Richmond but them not even offering a bunch of players new contracts or even initiating talks suggests they will throw money at agents like Prestia.

You're probably right although they've now admitted that getting top up players hasn't worked. I would think they'll be going strong in the draft. I'm sure like everyone they'll be after any A graders available. Hurley, O'Meara, Prestia.  It's reported today that both Richmond and Melbourne have denied making any offer to Hurley. That $900k was probably the figment of someone's imagination. Probably started like J Brown saying Freo would have to offer Jesse $1.5mill a year for 10yrs. No substance just someone's opinion. Probably a what would it take for Tigers to get Hurley. Oh $900k a year.

It all comes down to how we finish off the season.

If we're around the finals race come season's end then it will be easier to convince someone like Prestia that he is part of that missing piece of the puzzle that pushes us over the edge and into the finals in 2017.

If we end up 12th again then other clubs like Richmond, St. Kilda, Carlton etc quickly become more attractive.  It's up to us to make sure that doesn't happen.

Whilst I agree we need to remain attractive, I think a decision will be made by the player(s) earlier than that. Prestia has implied he'll make his decision in the second half of the year. I also wouldn't be surprised if Melbourne's offer to Prestia last year is still pretty much on the table, awaiting his signature.

Ill put it out there...I think we're about the only club that could snag BOTH Hurley AND  Prestia

if we managed that ( alone ) in trade week  we will be adjudged  winners:)

If's everywhere. I wouldnt make Dion a priority either but my thinking is with  the old  Ess connections thingy we might snag Hurley. With the apparent connection to our glorious club and prior attempts interest ( both ways )  we could snare Dion

therefore   we might get both..Wouldnt do our list any harm ^_^

In 2014 Dion averaged 27.1 possessions for the year.

In 2015 Dion averaged 27.1 possessions for the year.

So far in a year where his team is being flogged most weeks, Dion is averaging 24.0 possessions a game. In Dom Tyson's break out season in 2014 he was averaging 23.7 disposals. As one of our better and more consistent performers this year, Dom is averaging 23.6. Oh and to put this into further context. Jones won his first two blueys with an average of 24.6 and 23.1 possessions a game. Treloar, another young gun, averaged 27.6 and 27.5 in his final two years at GWS. Prestia is in the same bracket as Treloar, but will have a lot more support than Treloar will in Collingwood's midfield.

Prestia is an elite young talent whose output is down as he builds back up from injury, in a team that's a basketcase. His contract predicament might also be playing a part.

There's no ifs about him, other than injury. Dom Tyson also had injury troubles at GWS and he's turning into a fine young player. You do your medical due diligence, but once he passes that, you race to sign him.

I'm not too concerned with Prestia's stats,as everyone knows when he is fit, he is a great player. I'm more concerned with his knee issues and if he is over them.

Maybe we've told Prestia to seek out Richmond's medical team, and if he gets the all clear from them we make a move (can be the only reason why Tiger's think they are a chance!)
