Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Boyd move changed the whole landscape, followed by Griffen

Unfortunately I think we are going the way of European soccer where the managers are driving the change

Howe immediately knocked back an 11th hour trade to GWS last year

Not sure if they come knocking again with a ridiculous offer, might be too good to refuse, of course he needs a good year as well

Depends on what he sees as the future with MFC

Interesting the blurb said his manager was 'testing the market'

From what I have seen and heard from him, he is very happy at MFC, but then again one of his best mates still is Chip Frawley

From now on I won't believe anything about players contracts anymore until the end of the trade/draft period next November

(a new troll I see, may read if I need a laugh)

Top post. The GWS approach for Howe last year - was it legitimate, or was it merely intended to be disruptive? Pick 7 or so would've been okay for him.

In fact, Nakia Cockatoo would've been an attractive option for Howe IF Howe is entertaining leaving at the end of this season. That said, he strikes me as the loyal type. Hope he re-signs.

No it was legitimate, I spoke to Howie about it at the start of pre season, was asked was he interested in talking to them and gave an immediate and flat no

One thing I like about Roos, is there is no sentiment in anything, he knows the game has changed and will do anything he thinks is the right thing for the club, including making everybody tradeable.

Think Howie feels he owes the club, could still be an electrician in Dodges Ferry if we hadn't taken the punt, but if the Club gets an offer it can't refuse, who knows?

Not sure about this! If we didn't take him, Richmond would have picked him up with the pick they used on Brad Helbig (who was delisted last year).

Correct. Collingwood also had interest. He was a good get, but he was always going to be drafted even if he flew under the radar of media outlets at the time. There were threads about him in other football forums in late 2009, a year before he was drafted

Howe would have been drafted that year. IIRC there were several all clubs in the mix, but we obviously got in first. An ex recruiting mate of mine said after the draft he questioned whether Howe had more strings to his bow beyond marking. Said he was expected to get picked mid draft. Can't remember and CBF googling what pick he went. But there was no chance he would still be a sparky in Tassie.

He was drafted in November 2010. The thread I'm talking about was a year earlier in 2009.

Shouldn't be training, in fact shouldn't even be at the club if that was the case.

Might be MFCSS but I'm now predicting we have about 5 missing and 5 under the weather in round 1. You have gastro you stay home people.

is it just me or do we seem to get an aweful lot of gastro??

new diet perhaps??

Sorry mate I wasn't clear, was referring to the that year he was drafted not the year of the threads. I wasn't responding to your quote in particular. All good.

Pick 7 would have been okay?!

It would have been Christmas.

For me Howe is a lot of gloss and not much substance.

Will take the hanger but then miss the set shot from 35m out.

Wonder if we would've taken Cockatoo with pick 7. I reckon everyone skipped a gem there.

[censored] Geelong, of all the teams.

No point going there, but yes, star to be methinks

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
