Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sounding ominous, all the AFL/team sites are disastrous. Fingers crossed they get this (one) right.

Could be a double banger bing

They then have to get everyone to Luna Park the next day when the GP is happening half a KM away.

Guys,

Just some more info for those attending on Saturday.

If travelling by car take the 3rd turn off to Ballarat from the Freeway. You need to turn off towards the A300 and then will have an intersection which is Creswick turn right and Ballarat turn left. Obviously here you turn left and just follow this road and the ground is only 5 mins drive.

For those thinking of staying over...GOOD LUCK! Most of the City is booked out due to The Red Hot Summer Tour on Saturday night...best I can offer is a link to wotif.com

I believe max into the ground is 8000 and after playing our first game away there should be good crowd there. I think the Club/AFL were advising members that if there are more than 8000 you may not get entrance to the ground. So you should (if they are still available) by a $6.00 ticket from Ticketek (I think) which will ensure that you get in - just quote your membership number.

With quoting your membership number to get the ticket for $6.00. How do you do it online? I put my membership number in didn't work. Do you have to ring up?

I think the crowd last year was reported as over 9000.

I got a phone call today from North Sports Club reconfirming our lunch and dinner booking we made 2 months ago. We were told interest in the day was unprecedented.

Has SEN been broadcasting the non-televised matches?

Fairly certain SEN said they were broadcasting all NAB games. This was mentioned when the non-TV-broadcasting of six NAB games was discussed.

Ins and Outs for the Doggies... Assuming Watts, Viney and Brayshaw are coming into the squad, and Hogan pulls up ok, who's up for omission?

  • Hogan if rested, justify keeping both Dawes and Pedersen in.
  • VandenBerg may be given another crack, but as sub may go out for Watts up forward.
  • JKH was least of the new amigos (Garlett, Kent and JKH) so may go out for Viney/Brayshaw

Ins: Watts, Viney, Brayshaw.

Outs: JKH, McKenzie, Pedersen

Certainly will be a big day. Last year I was at the North v Blues game and official crowd was 7850 give or take a couple. Certainly room for a few more but then viewing options become limited.

They won't have 8000 'booked' tickets so if you get there early you'd be safe. I'm local so it's like 10 mins to the ground so 2.30 I'll be there to soak up the build up.

I was toying with taking Matt Jones out, most clangers and most Frees Against... 11 in total, was probably the difference...

But reckon Roos wants solid bodies, run all day players in for Rd 1 over kids. Make the kids learn to run like M Jones and Bail AND deliver silky skills and they'll get a game. Hence wanting to see how Brayshaw goes... although I doubt he has the engine for 4 quarters of AFL just yet.

I can't see Brayshaw getting a game, Stretch would be ahead of him for a start.

It will be interesting to see if they persist with Pedersen after his shocker last week.

Roos usually doesn't make changes for the sake of making changes especially after a good performance so the handful of maligned players will get another chance to redeem themselves.

Hogan will definitely be rested we can't afford to take even the slightest risk with him and then bring him back for the Dons game.

North Ballarat Roosters chief executive officer Mark Patterson said preparations had gone smoothly for the match, with expectations of a crowd size between the 4000-7000 mark – slightly lower than that for the North Melbourne v Carlton encounter last year, which drew about 8000.

Patterson said the AFL had already distributed about 2200 tickets, with 700 more already pre-sold.

Quote from today's Ballarat Courier....

Given Bradshaw just extended and would be unlikely to play early in the season proper, if I were Roos I'd give him a run, just so he's more aware of the level he needs to hit and play at for 4 Q against real AFL opposition. Like blooding him, so when his debut rolls around he'll know what to expect.

That said, I like the idea of honing in on our best 22 for rd 1.

On Hogan, if he's recovered and unlikely to damage his foot by playing, I'd play him. We need to build fluency in the forward like and the more the forward 6+ play together, the better we'll be rd 1. I recall Jimmy managed to play despite some discomfort over his career...

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
