FAREWELL JEREMY HOWE

What

Is there an explanation as to why he would lie to say it was frisbee playing rather than cricket that injured him?  Is he not allowed to play cricket? Surely not since there would be 21 witnesses that he did.

Petracca breaks his toe playing basketball, albeit being stupid. Perhaps wear shoes next time truck and no reverse slam dunks. But he owns up to it despite no-one else being there.

Jeremy Howe breaks his finger in front of a crowd and makes up a ridiculous story.

Make no mistake Roos has built a culture.

I believe it was an organized competition rather than just a backyard match, which is something that I'm sure is frowned upon by all clubs. Compound that with the fact that he wasn't yet in full training due to injury issues and you can understand why he shouldn't have been playing.

Wow.......I just don't believe the animosity toward Howe     Blokes calling him a liar, like they were there, and saw what happened.

People canning him for helping out his side playing cricket.   Don't they know that players can't do anything outside of football 24/7

Players have broken legs getting out of the shower.    Players cut there knees with chain saws (Harvey).    Players fall over in their holidays and break ankles

I reckon we should snap freeze them after the footy season and then thaw them out in time for Pre season, after all they are getting big money.

Well..... I know it's hard to believe but players are actually human and have other interests.   The media on this story is just unbelievable.    Did he do his finger playing cricket OR playing with his dog??????

Wait for the next exciting instalment when we interview the dog.

Not that I'm losing any sleep over this incident, but playing a bit of cricket in the backyard is different than playing in an organized competition when you're on a modified program with the PROFESSIONAL football team that you play for. Many athletes have clauses in their contracts that prevent them from playing other organized sports, and I would assume that would be the case with the majority of AFL footballers.

I know that Patty Mills (NBA) was all dressed and ready to take the field for a game in the USAFL when his agent got him on the phone and said something along the lines of "What the F&(^ do you think you're doing?"

it would be interesting to know what is and isn't allowed under the contracts.

It was being discussed on SEN and it was assumed that there are many exclusions on activities outside football in contracts.

Balme said on the radio that Howe plays cricket and that is no problem.

I read between the lines and as suggested  - I don't think that the club was happy with the way Petracca got his injury

Nathan Jones surfs whenever he can ( and I would suggest with the clubs blessing or he wouldn't do it) - this comes with risk.

Lots of AFL footballers play golf during the season

So there is  no hard and fast rule as to what they are and aren't allowed to do ?

Howe is recovering from stress fractures in his foot... He should only be doing what the club tells him. If he was 100% and had trained all pre season then not so much a concern, but FFS if you are on a modified program I doubt playing cricket is on the Rehab program.

Balme on the radio said they knew about his cricket. (After the event ?)

I'll put my hand up. I'll miss him. The best taker of marks I've ever seen and not just the spectacular ones. (Honourable mention must go to Greg Parke.) Did he impact games enough? Possibly not...but in the 100 games he played, not many others did either. Perhaps in a better team he may have been more productive overall.

Was 4th in marks taken for the club 2015 and was also 4th in intercepts and kicked 10 goals for the season.....Kicked some great goals and took some great marks

Also played 100 games for the club and kicked 80 goals and played all 22 games last year.

I know that any player that leaves us is now considered rubbish after they leave but I think we will miss him throughout the year.

 Classic argument against stats.

He won't be missed. Filth will already wondering I can imagine.

Ppl need to wakeup to what makes a player, not a selfishshow pony. a lying one it appears.

I will agree to disagree........You call him a show pony because he takes screamers.   He also takes strong marks in the back line and kicks goals when forward.   I will bookmark your post and get back to you mid year.    Stats tell you who has the ball, how many times and what they do with it.    This games takes many elements.   You can hate him all you like

P.S.    If you saw him break his finger, you can then call him a liar.   Typical ex MFC player bagger.

I call him a showpony because screamers was the only thing he did well. Being a link....fail.. Kicking to advantage....fail.

Turnover ball AAA+++

Its very suspicious. I mean he didnt tell the club he was playing cricket, he goes off after dropping a catch then he decides to go to the park and play frisbee? Then says he hurt it then. Jeremy you arent at melbourne now. You are at a club that  has a lot of expectations and I wouldn't want to be lying to Bucks or Balmy.

Just goes to show how differently two supporters see the same game.   I don't think he was as bad as you say.   Most in our team were not great at the above

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
