Anyway back to the topic, the point I was trying to make was, yes, let's wait until games to see the improvement in the kicking, but I am more optimistic this year that it will be there, than the last few, I do go to training a lot, last year the kicking was still appalling at training, so I didn't have much hope for the games...I was actually one on here who said we were only going to win 3 or 4 games and I am supposed to be the biggest fanboy....my prediction for this year 6 or 7

As someone who is based in Sydney, I can say with certainty that the training reports during the pre-season are the most valuable/important contributions that posters make on this site.

That being the case, would others please respect this and stop dragging otherwise interesting threads into mindless/petty personality-based sniping.

As someone who has had the pleasure of meeting TDI and his lady, I would suggest that some of the snipers get along to training and introduce themselves and know the person... it might do wonders for their perception of the man rather than the poster. I know most of the comments are said in good humour, but there are a few that are definitely beyond the pale.

i'll reserve my judgement as to whether certain players have become good or ok kickers when i seen it demonstrated consistently in real match conditions

Not necessarily, bit like supercoach points, depends on how you interpret them

Both correct - it is the need for interpretation that makes the figures shyte. Our backliners disposal efficiency number looks much better on paper than it is. The defenders chip the ball around backwards quite well to each other but we have certain players who are average by foot coming forward out of the backline. Their efficiency number is going to look above average but it does belie their average ability by foot. Inside, in and under footballers who get the ball out of heavy traffic will by the nature of their work have a lower disposal efficiency figure.

The best way to judge efficiency is still to watch and McKenzie, Grimes, McDonald and Terlich are four that need to improve their foot disposal when they are under little pressure.

100% this. The opposition gets 3-4 goals a week from truly awful disposal mistakes in the back half and these are the main offenders, I dont care what the stats say
