With mixed feelings we are about to relocate to Bangkok for two years in May. My only real regret is that I think the Demons are on the cusp of success andI don't want to miss this.

I was looking at armchair membership with digital access. However I see that this is not available outside Australia or New Zealand.

Can anyone advise of any way of seeing the games in Bangkok either by video etc or at a location that screens AFL games.

Thanks in Advance

Yes, I live overseas too and can vouch for the AFL website subscription service. It has the occasional problem but for the most part is very reliable. About $120 for a season pass. You can watch all 9 games Live.

I’ve watched footy at a pub called Bradman’s in Bangkok. From memory they showed every game, either on cable TV or through a stream (presumably the same service as above).

Games should be Foxtel in certain pubs. Now that the Australia Network has been killed off by the LNP i am not sure if sky will take up the AFL

Personally i love watching footy in Asia with expats eating Thai food with cold Changs!!

I too can vouch for the AFL subscription. I was away for 3 weeks in June and took out a month subscription. Watched the Dees beat the Bombers at 2am in New York. Had to watch the last quarter in the toilet so as not to wake up the wife with my yelling at the iPad. Quality was great too.

Here is the last 2 minutes of that game just because.

Not there is a man who needs to get more in his life.

However after the last eight years you are certainly dedicated.

I live in Bangkok, there are many pubs that have all games live. And instead of paying for AFL live, the MFC offer a international membership which gives you the same access to all matches. Might as well give your money to the club instead of the AFL.

All up and down Sukhumvit Rd there are Aussie and other pubs which have cheap beer plenty of expats and all games live, although most Demon games will be morning games here.

I was the same when I moved here, worried about my footy fix and can honestly say I watch more footy here than I did back in Aus.

Grab an international membership, if you aren't already a member it works out that you get a Dees membership on top of the AFL subscription for about thirty bucks.

If you're already a member get the digital add on as it's cheaper through the club than from the AFL.

Thank you

Your information has made the move so much easier. I would love to catch up with anyone in Bangkok when we are up there

Live overseas too and can vouch for the service mentioned. Works really well the majority of the time.

Last year there was a discount code with my overseas Melbourne membership and think they are doing the same again. Worth looking into if you're a member.

I was thinking of streaming games through the afl site instead of getting foxtel this season. Has anyone gone down this path?

I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I only really have foxtel to watch sport and can find live streams of most of the bigger overseas codes... $60 for a digital pass through the club (on top of your MFC membership) plus $30 for an adapter to hook my iPhone up to the TV is a fraction of what I pay for Foxtel...

how's that dr g? a vpn is a security issue not a speed issue

You can get the AFL live app in Australia but it only plays on mobile/tablets - there are ways to view it on the TV but when I tried this last year the picture was so blurred it wasn't even worth watching could barely tell teams apart (this is on high speed cable 80Mbps).

Do you have a Chromecast? I can mirror my phone/tablet screen through the chromecast app. Not HD but does the job when in a pinch and can easily tell the teams apart

Nah but I've got an AppleTV so was able to stream from iPad to that. When the cameras still and zoomed in it's ok but panning down the ground was horrific couldn't even see the ball.

I'm currently getting a house built a fair way out of Melbourne so knew I wouldn't be attending as many games from now on so I decided to add a theatre room to our build specifically for watching footy and movies. I got advice from the electrician and he's running data points so I can connect the theatre room to the study (where the modem will be). I will then set up a desktop In the theatre room and run a HDMI cable from the desktop to my new wiz bang TV.

Finger crossed this works.

Oh crap, I didn't realize that. Thanks for the advice Dr G. The TV I'm getting is a Samsung smart tv, can I watch it through the afl app on the tv?

maybe, maybe...........not all "smart" tvs are the same

and you have little guarantee that the software running on the tv will be maintained or upgraded in the future

bottom line - don't have a strategy that relies on the "smarts" of a tv

No you won't be able to get anything in Australia that can easily stream to your TV because Foxtel (and Channel 7) are paying for the broadcast rights and the AFL have to protect that.

Ok will do - but technically it's not "illegal" you still have to pay a subscription and the courts and Australian government have previously stated it is not illegal to circumvent geoblocking.

Important differentiation with illegal streaming I feel.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
