The Age says we want to move to Elsternwick Park - the home of the VAFA.

Anyone know about this?

I guess it's too silly to suggest we want to take on the ammos to win a few more games...I'll leave that sort of gag to the Coodabeens, but the club seems to be thinking about relocating from the MCG precinct.

I don't get it. We finally have some of the best training facilities available yet we are allegedly moving to Docklands, Melbourne University and now Elsternwick.

And strengthening our alliance with Casey on previous years! The St. Kilda scenario is no less strange!

AAMI isn't permanent. We lease it and I don't know at what cost and for how long.

We need somewhere with a long term lease with facilities locked in.

Selfishly it would suit me as I live close by.

We obviously need a permanent home, with the best facilities. I trust Jackson to steer us in the right direction. Like other clubs, we could get help financially from the AFL for a new facility.

Whilst l have no argument with that, it seems that such a move would take us into reverse gear in the short term in relation to our alliance with the City of Casey and the Casey Scorpions. With closer integration of the coaches (including Shanon Byrnes as a playing coach), l was actually getting quite excited about following the fortunes of Casey FC this year. If we go to Elsternwick Park, surely that is heralding that we also intend to join the ranks of having a stand-alone team in the VFL and may even end up as a prelude to all the Victorian teams reverting to having fully-fledged 'Reserves' teams, (hopefully playing occasionally as curtain-raisers to blockbusters games such as our Queen's Birthday clash with the Pies)!

Surely St. Kilda couldn't clown us on this... I got the feeling that we were starting to get our house in order while they were reverting back to the same old year to year circus they always were.

what connection does Elsteernwick have to the Melbourne Football Club?

Answer - nothing

Can we set up home, and stay in the heart of Melbourne please for [censored] sake

Elsternwick is a suburb of Melbourne? Edited by CBDees

To be honest with you, I don't mind this.
It's relatively inner city and the bayside suburbs are a traditional source of support for us. Recently when I have been taking my morning walks along the Marybyrniong river, I see fellow joggers and walkers wearing one of two caps that denote the teams they support: Essendon and the Western Bulldogs. The Dons outnumber the Dogs at least 3 to 1 (mostly because I am on the Northern side of the river).

I also work out at Hawthorn at the moment as well and the amount of yellow and brown out there come GF time was noticeable. It would be nice to have a suburb that is stoked because our club is in the granny or doing well.

That being said, I have been pretty vocal about us reaching out to more people who aren't viewed as traditional Demons supporters but if we can get a 30 year lease out of there, I am for it.

Pick exactly where you think our home should be please. 25th floor of the Rialto? Fed square? Maybe section off one of the public gardens around the CBD and just have a kick there 3 times a week?

Our social club is/was in Bentleigh, where's that link?

Hawthorn train at Waverley. Essendon now train at the Airport. Collingwood at Olympic Park.

Our supporters come from everywhere but are probably most densely located in the inner south east. Elsternwick isn't far from there. It's certainly a good place for AFL players to train.

If the opportunity arises for top class facilities and a long term rent then I'm all for it.

We don't want to be sitting back in 15 years when we are booted out of AAMI and wondering why we didn't take Elsternwick. That will be the Westpac/Lexus centre all over again.

What happened to make St Kilda lose opportunity at the Junction Oval? Thought they were keen.

The agreement was scotched when the ALP won the election. Also Tony Dodemaide has made clear that he is not open to sharing the Junction with St. Kilda.

Only the Libs were supportive of a joint venture. Labor only put in for the cricket part of the redevelopment.

Also a lot of the local sporting clubs who share the surrounding ovals are largely against an AFL club with a large membership (compared to the local clubs) being able to dictate use of facilities and ovals. Sounds like the president of Elsternwick's footy club fears the same.

Mahoney has been saying that we must continue to look at the best training facilities.

AAMI Park has great facilities but even those will need upgrading in the not too distant future.

They must be always on the lookout for a suitable area to set up their own non-share facility.

I nice piece of crown land for peppercorn rental would be a good start.

We have a connection to the MCG, I think that's important to keep as tenuous as it may be.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
