It's a bit early picking a team but here goes:

B: Jetta, Frost, Dunn

HB: Lumumba, McDonald, Garland

C: Vince, Viney, Watts

HF: Petracca, Dawes, Howe

F: Garlett, Hogan, Kent

Fol: Jamar, N. Jones, Tyson

I/C: Cross, Brayshaw, Salem, Toumpas

Em: Michie, Gawn, Pederson

Grimes will play and we will need a second ruck.

Getting there.

To be fair it's a struggle this early but they are two pretty key factors missing

I still cant believe that the saints coach said petracca was the best player in the draft - then they picked paddy.

All orchestrated by the AFL marketing/PR department to keep things "exciting". Wouldn't read too much into it.

In spite of the public posturing, St Kilda were always going down this road once Boyd ended up at the Dogs.

Christ almighty.. Viney, Petracca, Brayshaw, Neal-Bullen with Toumpas, Salem & Stretch on the outside and all of them feeding Hogan. WOW!

I told myself after the last few (or more) years I will no longer get my hopes up.

[censored] it ... WOW indeed.

... and then add Tyson and Jones

Gawn will possibly play Round 1 [as Dawes is suspended] but not so sure about Grimes automatic inclusion [as Captain] when you consider the depth that we have added through the Trading/Draft!

You've listed Stretch twice, plus Jetta was promoted. I think we have two rookies left in Harmes and King right now, so two spots left.

James who?

Most likely the one and only time I will ever appreciate a lack of loyalty.

It took me about two minutes to work out who you were talking about. Cant remember the last time I have heard him refered to as James.

2 rookie. Think you are missing Jetta being upgraded.

Gawn or Pederson

Grimes, i think he is a walk up. Disposal is iffy, but 1%ers second to none

Newton might be ahead of the younger fellas

I'm gonna do a team, but every time I try I think of one or two changes.

Jordie Mckenzie and Ro Bail would be feeing nervous right about now

Not the only ones. Harmes, Hunt, Mitchie, Riley. With the new additions we've got about 10 players going for 2 spots.

Survival of the fittest, will be an interesting couple of years.

...

What it's about is for at least one or two of that "promising" 10 to make the step up into A-grade.

Rather than 10 "fringe" mids out of which we have to choose 4 (or whatever). Which is what we've had so far.

For all those on the "ready to go " bandwagon. Read the weaknesses Of both boys and it naturally keeps coming up the same - engine and endurance. They may have big bodies but they do not yet have the endurance. I wouldn't put any limits on their first season but realistically they need a couple seasons before they will be regular features in the midfield playing big minutes. I see petracca used mainly up forward to start and even brayshaw will be used sparingly in the guts.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
