Jeremy on the move?

I said at the time GWS were p ricks throwing bombs at the last minute with no intention or chance of getting a trade done. They simply wanted to divert everyone's attention for 2015 from the fact the whole comp will be coming after their players.

I hope they die on the vine that stinking rotten carcass of a team.

You are being far too polite - I guess you are intimidated by our moderators :o

Don't mind if Howe goes and we get a high pick like #7. I'm more worried about Nathan Jones. I don't want him to drag out contract talks all year and then bail under free agency. He is our captain and the sole of our club at the moment. We need him to sign on!

If the case I hope he is dropped first sign he shows of being disinterested. Not keen to see a Frawley 2.0 prance around next year

Amusing...the same day the club delists a player who is contracted we are frothing at the mouth because a player may or not be going when he comes out of contract. Meh... It's a business now. He can't go to club of choice unless we trade or the club of choice is bottom of the ladder. Next season. I am hereby emotional invested in no player whatsoever... It's about the team.

Exactly, if Howe goes? Meh, if we get something decent for him it would be a win.

If Jones leaves it will be a disaster.

  2. Reported on 7 news Oct 17 that GWS threw pick 7 at Melb late to try and snare Jeremy Howe. Under contract, Dees held aces. Too late to deal

swap him for Cameron. No seriously I do not want another year of players saying I will put off talks. I know he is entitled to but its a pain. Im sick of losing a good player each year. on Jones I expect him to stay. Only because he comes across as that loyal sort of bloke who likes to finish the job. But geez if Jones did go Id cry and it would rip the heart out of the club.

seriously, what is the percentage of players that demonstrate any loyalty whatsoever these days? It's almost non-existent now. Even for blokes like Vney and Grimes I would not be surprised to see them leave for coin.

Big money offers have been on the table since the 80s.

A player's loyalty settings remain the same as they always have been. The modern day Robbie Flower would be as loyal now as he was then.

Tom Scully would have done just as Gerard Healy did, albeit 20 years earlier.

Not all people are built the same way.

surely not. All you need to do is look at the amount of players on teams' lists that have previously played at another club. It is vastly disproportionate to 10 years ago, hell even 5 years ago.

An important intangible factor here is his popularity with our ever dwindling junior supporters . As an MCC member with a full MFC membership I am able to sponsor my ten year old grand nephew as a Junior member . He was delighted to receive a call from Jeremy under a club initiative at a time when he was embarrassed to wear our jumper at his footy training . The chat renewed his enthusiasm for the Dees .

I think most players still aspire to being 'one club' players.

That there's now more movement reflects the changes to the drafting and trading regime over the years IMO.

He brings people through the turnstiles

And that is the reason why the Giants would cough up pick 7 for Howe or any other footy freak that would convince the 'good people' (term used loosely, no offence intended) of Greater Western Sydney to attend their games.

As if you wouldn't trade Howe for pick 7. Every day of the week.

And for the record, information that GWS had come a-knocking was posted on Demonland early on the last day of trade period. We certainly would have had enough time to do something if we'd wanted to. At the time, it was reported that Howe knocked it back.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
