Just tweeted he is stoked to be offically a Dee again.

Could be a surprise packet this lad,......

I'm confused. So does this mean he was a rookie with a one year contract that ran out and he has now been re-signed on another rookie contract?

I know very little about him except he is a tough 6'1" midfielder which is obviously what we need so I share in his stokedness

Does that mean we're likley to find out the delistings soon?

I guess the players are being told where they are at....

Are we delisting anyone from Demonland ?

Rookies are given a 1+1+1 contract.

It is utterly ridiculous that a supposed professional sport has such a nonsensical device such as the rookie list.

Paid less, less freedom than similar structures in other sports, and less security than a Primary list spot.

I like this kid ... lots of G&D and a demon supporter growing up. Runs and carries the footy.

I think he could surprise some in 2015 and get his debut by round 4-5.

Dee-Luded.

He failed the drug test.

Thanks rpfc I didn't know that. Tough gig being a rookie. So much for the glamorous life of an AFL footballer

Only the Professor, Biff and Moonie at this stage.

Dee-Luded.

He failed the drug test.

I did not think the AFL cared if anyone is on Drugs these days.

You can even keep a Brownlow if you were on Drugs at the time of winning it.

DL's drugs wouldn't be of the performance enhancing kind...

2014 Season 1 Casey Scorpions didn’t play. 2 Casey Scorpions didn’t play. 3 VFL Competitive effort and wasn’t afraid to put his head over it. - 4 VFL Best for Casey in development league loss. - 5 VFL Had 30 touches and worked extremely hard in midfield. - 6 VFL Did a decent job on Cockie but suffered a punctured lung. - 7 Lung. 8 Lung. 9 VFL Ran hard in midfield to end with 16 possessions. - 10 VFL Bye. - 11 VFL Bye. - 12 VFL Had a good second half to catch the eye. - 13 VFL Worked hard in close and kicked a nice goal. - 14 VFL Worked hard in midfield to swing the tide Casey’s way. - 15 VFL Battled hard in midfield with 15 possessions. - 16 VFL Did well across half back and provided some run. - 17 VFL Led the way with 31 touches in midfield. Developing well. - 18 VFL Battled hard in midfield and gave some run. - 19 VFL Worked hard in midfield to end with 22 possessions. - 20 VFL Toiler in midfield but was overwhelmed by Port numbers. - 21 VFL Hard worker in midfield but needed to get more ball. - 22 VFL Battled hard in midfield and kicked a goal.

Like him.

Massive bonus if we can turn him into a bona fide AFL player. Signs are sounding positive.

And where's Satyricon? For all I know, we've started pre-season training and without Satyricon I'm missing out on hearing how every player's travelling.

And doesn't that say one hell of a lot about what a crap feeder competition the VFL is in its current form......all those consecutive byes is just a momentum killer.

They are pretty impressive numbers for an 18 year old rookie list player.

Keep developing the way he is and we could have the next Will Langford

heres hoping....

Great decision. I think this means he will remain a rookie listed player in 2015. I personally believe that he went past Jayden Hunt and that he has possibilities for the future in our midfield if continues to advance at Casey.

Could never work out why Hunt was drafted onto the senior list while Harmes was rookied, considering Hunt was more of the project player.

Yep still trying to work that out aswell.

Presumably because we didn't believe Hunt would last through to the Rookie list. Apparently a few clubs had spoken to him and if he was being considered by us, he would have been considered by others.

You know that whole best available method of drafting thing? Where you take the talent more so than when they are ready to play. They were both 18, one had played only school footy and had more athletic traits, the other a TAC midfielder, but it's not like either were really in line for senior selection last year.

I do like Harmes. But Hunt has rare speed. I think every now and then you risk burning a late draft pick on a quick guy because it's very hard to manufacture speed.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
