Blease for Garlett? Weren't Carlton the ones that were interested in Blease?

It's the perfect trade.

They can have Strauss for free too if they want.

Has good defensive pressure I'll give him that and knows where the sticks are but just about fell off my chair when that heading went up. :o

Club must know something ( hopefully ) :)

Great fit for us.

Interesting background story to the kid. Was essentially homeless while playing for Swan Districts.

rings a bell.

good for both teams I guess , but only really care about us. Would give Blease a new crack at it I suppose..

I like Blease for Garlett too. Both players are worthless to their current clubs but could revive their careers at a fresh environment.

Has the the chance to be the ultimate nil-all draw trade though.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

yeah..... kicking all those damn bloody goals........nuisance !!!

Carlton fans talking second round swaps and all sorts of other BS. Surely he's out of contract. Even a 4th round is generous.

Rapt at this. Has kicked 39+ goals in three seasons (48 one year). Can't say that for anyone else on our list. Nobody even comes close

There's no point in having crumbers in your forward line if there are no big blokes there to contest. Perhaps we'll actually play Dawes (and hopefully Hogan) forward of centre next year, instead of letting him run around like a headless chook.

Garlett would be okay if he costs us nothing, but I certainly wouldn't be giving up anything of value for him.

The other problem with Garlett is how damn soft he is. He makes Watts look courageous. I don't know how we toughen him up.

Dawes has struggled without having a crumbing forward around him. It makes his 10 dropped marks per game look worse. At least with a crumber he can attempt to palm the ball down a bit more.

So...like Yze?

He is proven as a goal kicker who can chase . Win for us at a cheap price

Posted (edited)

Never mind his crumbing. Now we don't have to hold the ball up on the wing to wait for our plodders to get into the forward 50. We can just lob it in and watch him chase it down.

Apparently big personal troubles, I hope we've done due diligence.

If they are sorted then he could be worth something.

Really it's just a throw at the stumps that should cost nothing.

Correct. Before everone gets too excited you might want to have a think about why he spent all last season playing for the Bullants???

Posted

JKH and Garlett hovering around forward line, pouncing on the loose ball being brought down by Gawn, Hogan et al, wouldn't necessarily be bad thing.

Was dropped last year to find some form and instead of working to get back he sulked and was a bit part player... Definitely wouldn't give up much, but if this is the wake up call he needs then there is a lot of upside!!

Roos v Malthouse is a big factor here!

I kept my head mostly in the MFC sand this year - why did he?

Whatever it was didn't affect him for the previous three seasons, where he barely missed a game.

Had a poor season this year. His previous 4 seasons he kicked 159 goals in 88 games including years of 39,43 and 48. Avg 3.4 tackles a game. Only 25.

Bargain if he buys in

I don't think Blease will be enough. Sure Garlett had a bad year, but at least he has proven to be an AFL quality forward. Blease hasn't even proven being a VFL player.

Not ideal. But sounds like blokes being blokes. Or idiots being idiots.

Guess if we are taking him it's about giving him a fresh start and forgiving whatever has happened before.

yeah, i'd take him (if he comes relatively cheap). we need some x-factor crumbing in the fwd line

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
