The problem is that I can't see them even considering giving up a Libba, Bont, Stringer or Macrae. Just won't happen. I know we might want it to, but it won't.

What the club needs to assess is if someone like Dahlhaus is worth the trade - Pick 3, with a promise to overlook a tall at Pick 2, for Pick 6 and Dahl would probably work for me. Wallis doesn't interest me much and they don't have much else I'd be interested in.

The scenario is as follows:

The Dogs are desperate for an elite KPF.

They are going to have to pay "overs" to secure this type of player. Maybe not to us - but to someone

We have no need to facilitate a trade of this type with the Bulldogs

Nothing may come out of this, No big deal if it doesn't

Simply Put

Sometimes

Desperate people do Desperate things

Let's wait and see

If the Dogs understand what we want, and that the deal may suddenly disappear since we're floating a number of possible deals with other clubs, then they'll make up their minds very quickly. Pick 3 for 6 plus any one of three names we provide to them. If the phone doesn't ring, we keep on trading.

"It is also believed Dahlhaus would not entertain a move to Melbourne."

Well you're a [censored] then Luke.

Don't understand why the need to pot players that don't want to purely leave their club especially coming to a lower club. Not every player has to entertain in coming to us.

No different to a Jack Viney going somewhere like a St Kilda

Deal 2 or 3 for this, it won't matter cos they're only doing it for a KPF, so essentially they're dealing Dalhaus and pick 6 for a power forward that they desperately need. I'd expect Melbourne to do this if the shoe was on the other foot

Paul made a very good point though. It could very much matter. If the Crows wanted to take a KPF and that was part of the allure of trading Dangerfield, we couldn't deal with both clubs, because they'd both be after the same thing.

No skin off our teeth whatsoever, Bulldogs. You want a key forward, cough up.

Or else it goes to the next team that calls up with a better proposal. End of discussion.

I cant really see them using McCrae/Bont but other players are unders.

Left field: what about Winson? Ive heard he is unsettled and we need a senior ruck. not sure Russians body will hold up

otherwise maybe a 3rd party gets involved. eg. WB send a player to GWS and GWS send us a player

Yeah sorry dazzle, how dare I be disappointed a bloke doesn't want to play for us. What was I thinking?

I would do #2 and #22 for Bontempelli alone. The kid will be a superstar.

Overrated at this point in time. He and Jimmy Toumpas have just about the same career stats and some on here want to get rid of JT. I know stats can be deceiving, but I wouldn't be trading a top pick for MB, even if we did get their first rounder back.

speaking of over-rated. I hate how overrated stats and disposals are. looking at their careers, MB will be a star and who knows with JT but he has shown little in 2 years, this is regardless of how many times they touch the ball per game

I honestly just don't rate Hrovat enough for him to be the catalyst for this trade, but struggle to think who else they'd offer.

Clay Smith? Underwhelmed.

Wallis likewise, and when would a club ever trade a father-son?

With you on Hrovat. If they want a KPF then they have to have the courage to make a decision. I don't think they will do it though and we will move on.

I used to want minson, he did some work with schwartz at one stage. But he's getting on now, i don't know ho much we would get out him.
I like wallis, mcrae, hrovat, stringer - al young with some experience.

I doubt they would let many young guys go, they will need them.

Don't want him.

I'm going to give the Bulldogs hierarchy the benefit of the doubt and assume that they understand that you don't just move up three spots at the very top end of the draft by giving up slop. Unless our officials have gone insane, the Dogs can put up some names of some quality young midfielders or we move onto other discussions.

You know what, I would trade 2 for hrovat and 6. We then pick up brayshaw at 3 and another top mid at 6 plus Hrovat who is coming on nicely. A very good young player.

I just don't think they should have a choice. That's what free agency is for.

Do they have a choice? I think the issue may be more that trading first-22 players against their will would have a damaging effect on other players' loyalty and generally harm the reputation of the club. Supporters wouldn't like it either.

Of course they have a choice. I can't recall a trade ever being done without the player's consent.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
