Trade for the right replacement player

I can't believe people want to trade Watts and watch him become a star at another club. If our multi million dollar coaching panel can't get the best out of a player like Watts, then what are we paying them for? He has more talent in his little finger than most of our players have in their entire body, we just need to find the right role for him and give him some angry pills. Surely the test of whether our club is on the way up or not is whether we can harness the ability of our most talented players.

To use a Paul Roos description, 'he is what he is'. One thing Jack Watts will never be is the key position star that we all hoped for when he was drafted. I suspect one thing Jack Watts will always be is frustrating ..... and so it was in 2014. With ball in hand he is clean and highly skilled, an asset to the team. Without the ball he's a 'passenger' with a seemingly low work rate and lack of intensity at the contest. Some say that he would be a very good player in a good team. I have my reservations. Even the most gifted players in top teams need to 'go' when their turn comes around! I expect he will still be at Melbourne in 2015, continuing to frustrate as he always does. He is what he is, and he will never be what he isn't.

We lost vs Port because JW played only one quarter of footy. We almost won vs Port because JW played one of the best individual quarters of anyone all year.

It's baffling...but we need to stick with it.

I would like us to explore any trade options rather than wait 9 years.

I am not a fan of the way he plays and the way he represents the football club on the field and have serious concerns as to how that affects the culture of our footy team as a whole.

I have seen enough in the last 5 years to form the opinion that any upside will be minimal and another type of player with greater willingness in the contest will give us greater value.

I also believe that any public views Roos expresses in regards to Watts may well be filtered. I really wonder how longer a person like Roos can tolerate a player like Watts.

But yes,playing a full season has endeared him a bit more to some.And won him some accolades.

I reckon the critics far outweigh the supporters P_Man.

Has to stay. Improvement was evident. The funny thing is people still expect him to be Nick Riewoldt. He is an outside player, with poise, good decision maker and great ball use. All clubs have them, ours just happens to be a PIck 1. Would we want to trade him if Jack went at pick 32?

but I cannot see him ever being 'trusted' by teammates, to "Go" when its his turn, or to chase with passion.
