Patrick Dangerfield

Saints fell into a hole because of Ross Lyon. Just as Fremantle will fall into a hole in 2 years once they lose their senior blokes.

I agree. Lyon's record is with a ready made list. If Freo don't do it in the next 2 years, they will slide as well.

Ok here is the final word on this topic - Patrick Dangerfield will NEVER play for the Melbourne Demons.

Well that settles it.. he's a lock!!

Has any other club got more cap space than we do?

And would they be willing to spend as much on a midfielder as we are willing to pay for Danger?

Is there a bigger personnel drawcard for him at a rival club than Goodwin and Vince?

These questions have me optimistic about how things will play out this year, it's a long shot but the MFC is certainly a chance.

Saints, GC, GWS, Pies and Hawks would be my guess. Remembering it's not the money you have available now but at years end.

Two things - you won't convince anyone with just the answer, you have to show your work...and I can definitely say that a statement like that will not be the last word on this topic.

I always thought Fremantle blew their only chance in 2013.

That's a good question and one that Joel Selwood has shed some light on in and article today. He alludes to the premise that Geelong footy club will not pay out big bucks to a star like PD but as part of a high performing team, shall adjust contracts and payments according to the clubs postion in the competition. It's logical, but hardly the way FA is working.

The question is; will the Dee's be the equal of Geelong by the end of 2015? Will there be enough attraction for PD to return to Vic for a premiership tilt with ......?

I don't believe FA is all about premiership tilts.

Goddard, Dal Santo and Daisy didn't walk out on their previous clubs for a legitimate flag contender. They walked for money.

This club can afford to offer a much more lucrative salary than any other club, which gives Patrick 3 options:

A) Stay at Adelaide for a possible long-term premiership

B) Move to a legitimate premiership contender for considerably less dollars than market value

C) Get the "marquee" money overs here for a possible long-term premiership

I would say that Goddard and Del both went for what they thought were premiership tilts. The bombers blew up on Goddard and Del is still in the race but I can't see him getting there.

Daisy got a great offer to join his mentor. The delusional Carlton people would have you believe they are a legitimate contender, I would say that is for the spoon....

I don't know if we can offer more money than other clubs but wouldn't want to anyway.

Well I like the final word Norm but I agree there is more bullshite on this thread than even I and Biffen can muster up Danger playing for us FMD!!!!!

.....Daisy got a great offer to join his mentor...................

.

hmmmmph.....my mentor is 6' under. what are you trying to tell me rjay

Hope you don't get an offer you can't refuse 'daisy'

Forget Danger I say we go hard for Tim Cahill, one year contract as a key forward.

Liam used to kick goals over his head too...

But he didn't score goals with his head.

For what has been an unsuccessful period at least we've had some entertaining forwards - Robertson, Howe, Jurrah, Farmer......seen some great marks taken.

bit harsh on robbo and the wiz - both played finals in their time at the dees, at least saw some level of success.

well, far more than any other player over the last seven seasons.

Both played in a grand final, no less.

Geelong broke their own rule of capping stars at 500k a year when they resigned Harry Taylor and I wouldn't be surprised to see them do it again. Their list has changed a lot since winning 3 flags.

They are on the slide.

Balmey was the best footy manager in the comp but the team is full of old stars and young talent . Not many 25 to 28 year olds.

Agreed. I think they'll continue to make the finals for the foreseeable future, but I can't see them winning it again for a while.

How terrible for Geelong to only make the finals over the next 10 yrs or so, perhaps top 4. I feel very sorry for them.

I still remember Wright, Jacovitch and Jacko. Makes me think that we have had some of the most entertaining forwards in the AFL (even aside from the highly talented trio of Lyon, Neitz and Schwartz)!

And so it turns out that Dangerfield's father is on Adelaide's payroll.......

And from the same article another interesting tidbit about you know who...Greater Western Sydney were forced to put roof tiler Phil Scully’s $680,000 six-year contract as a recruiter in the salary cap after he was offered a deal 12 months before his son, Tom, signed on.

I had never realised it was 12months before that lying cheating scumbag left us....

As much as I would love Dangerfield at the Dees he will come at a very hefty price (predicted $1.2 M a season).

Instead I would prefer to see us target and obtain two of S.Selwood (FA), J.Steven (FA), R.Sloane (trade).

Expect the Hawks to be in the deal, big time, they will do anything to extend their reign at the top I think.

Is there anything wrong with that Earl?

I would also like to make sure that we have enough to lock Hogan up to a good deal for 2017 and beyond before season 2016 kicks off.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
