Hold that thought. Hearing Dangerfield is now very much in play, with likelihood somewhere near 90%.

More info tomorrow.

Any luck, Chook? The potentiality of this news got me through the night, after another insipid display from my other football team Liverpool.

Dangerfield had committed to The Footy Show before Sanderson was sacked and didn't really want to go on, but he also felt pulling out was a worse look.

I would still ideally like to pick him up for nothing next year and keep our picks.

And I'd like to pick up Ablett, Cameron, and Fyfe for nothing as well but it ain't gonna happen.

I mentioned this last week.

I think the Sanderson sacking was meant to be a preventative measure to stop Dangerfield going, but may have had the reverse effect, with the players copping the blame for the sacking.

At least now Dangerfield could use the excuse of being disenchanted with the coach's sacking and the ensuing blame game, if he is to leave as predicted.

No it's not. It's predicted on fan forums, that's about it.

Blue sky junkies, are the stereotypical dees supporters.

We're all so high on the potential of guys on our list, and we are quick to turn away the chance to swap that for proven consistent output.

If you've read my posts before, you'd know that my general contention on the standard of our list is hardly that of a 'blue sky junkie'.

This wasn't about consistent output. I was saying that if it were to be Toumpas or Trengove with a pick for Dangerfield, I'd rather we sent Toumpas off to Adelaide rather than Jack. If the opportunity came up to trade Trengove for some consistent output, of course it should be entertained.

I'm all for doing what it takes to further the list and climb the ladder, even if it meant trading someone like Nathan Jones.

I didn't think it was that complicated a concept, but yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

Predicted. In general. By anyone.

Most supporters who have watched us on a regular basis are under no illusions as to the strengths and weaknesses of our list. There appears to be no quick fix but it's surely time we produced our own champion. It would mean a great deal to many. Footy is clearly about being successful but it's also about going along to see an out and out star win, lose or draw week in and week out. And so, perhaps against logic, I hope that the luck that has deserted this club returns if just for a couple of draft periods.

I'd only be interested in Dangerfield for the right price.

Frawley compo and a player - not Toumpas/Watts.

Other than that I wouldn't pay overs for Dangerfield.

He won't play at a high level beyond 30.

Dangerfield is courageous in a stupid way.

I think he is overrated - and inconsistent - aswell.

He's 26 or 27 is he not? I'm not totally convinced that he'd be the ideal fit in comparison to a couple of up and comers.

It was just a general comment, but it was prompted by your post.

I know I'm a blue sky junkie to an extent. Couldn't have coped otherwise.

I agree with your sentiment though.

Sorry guys was hoping for more detail. not forthcoming.

However what I did get was two other sources tell me essentially the same thing:

Danger and Connors told us to sort ourselves for FA nxt year.

after the events of last week, he's open to moving now.

we have the picks to satisfy the Crows, and an open cheque book.

Forum veterans will recall Grand Final week 2007.

here we go again

I wonder if Dangers granny knows Judd's granny

dunno, but I've heard Dangers grandad knows judds granny, faaairly well.

Personally, I'd be very surprised if he doesn't leave Adelaide before Oct 2015.

maybe the sando sacking was to stop 3 players going next season, free agency ?

maybe the patty trade will help they're player payments to the other 2 ?

better NOT be for both picks...

I wouldn't be surprised if it were.

Surely we wouldn't be counting our chickens before they hatch, with the Frawley compensation? The club must have been told what to expect given the contracts being thrown around.

This is what I think they've been saying to everyone. I know the cats have had talks with those 2.

I imagine next year we'd be an also-ran, and merely used to push his price up. Naturally.

And that's why we'd need to move now, because now is when WE are the best placed to secure him.

If we wait til next year we'll be 6th in line, flirted with to secure his big pay day elsewhere.

There is NO WAY KNOWN, that Danegrfield will come to Melb. You blokes are deluding yourselves but carry on! Just hope that when this is exposed as pure folly then the trip down is cushioned by a few tons of mattresses!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
