We must have at least $1.7m in the salary cap with Frawley and Clark both gone. We were already only paying the minimum cap.

Pretty sure the bold drafting from the Lions has been a result of throwing around some big ticket contracts and seeing what bites. About time we do the same. Put a few $550k 4 year contracts under their noses and we'll see how much they want to stay in western Sydney.

I'd be putting 650k five year deal under Treloar's nose...

If Adelaide were even to entertain a trade, the way the EBA structured with the AFLPA and the AFL the player has to agree to the trade also. And why would Dangerfield agree to come to Melbourne over Geelong or Hawthorn? He had the option to go Geelong 3 or 4 years ago on a huge contract when he first came out of contract and knocked them back to resign with Adelaide. And he's a Geelong Falcons product. Could have been a premiership player already if he wanted to come back to Vic.

Won't be going anywhere.

Well Adelaide weren't exactly the worst side 3 or 4 years ago

You gotta wonder if this sudden change of heart about taking picks 2 and 3 to the draft is because the Saints told us they're taking McCartin?

Maybe we are warming to McCartin? I like Dawesy, don't get me wrong, but perhaps they've realised that he's just not that good?

Sounds like an immature passing comment, but really, Hogan and McCartin would set up our attack for the next decade with two guys that have the potential to be 50+ goal per year forwards.

Dawes will never be that type of player. Would be a good enforcer whilst the young blokes learn the craft though.

Wonder if Taylor prefers Wright or McCartin...

Agreed, or we have got wind that the GWS & Saints trade won't happen now and we already knew the Saints would take McCartin if the kept the #1 pick

McCartin seems the safer bet, but Wright has the potential to fit our structure better as he can play ruck, too. Think Kurt Tippett.

McCartin is the more typical power forward in the Hogan/Dawes mould.

Personally wouldn't mind either, Wright is a better kick and is quick for a big bloke, but there's question marks over his competitiveness/hardness.

Well Mahoney did come out and say it after the Griffen story broke, so the club must have reconsidered their options.

GWS won't be able to get pick 1 if they give pick 4 to the Bulldogs for Griffen.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
