Frawley Form Could Mean No First Round Draft Pick

Featured Replies

Nah, the AFL will come down with Evans and say no PP, and then give us the Frawley comp at ND4 as if they are doing us a huge favour...

It's all PR and Jackson doesn't seem to want a bar of it - he should saddle up and get out there ASAP and get Roos to join him in two weeks time.

The only factors that matter in deciding compensation are age and salary. Frawley will be 26 next month and wants about $700,000 a year.

Yep, so why are you writing an article about his form which has nothing to do with it????

IMO the deal has been done and he is merely going through the motions and trying to not get injured.

doing a bloody good job of that too

What happened to ND 3?

I think length of contract is also a factor rjay.

PS. Not sure why quote font size went haywire,

If we get no PP and round 2 compensation...then I think it's pretty reasonable to believe the AFL doesn't give a [censored] about this club including us supporters.

compo based on age , $ pa of contract and length of contract value

We can't miss both the priority pick and band 1 compensation. The AFL wont let it happrn

But I assume the Frawley compensation formula is set down explicitly and if his contract is not big enough we dont get first rounder? On the other matter the priority pick formula is opaque and dependent on an economics professor. Is that true? And it is now also dependent on the latest thought bubble from the AFL executive about some player tragedy scenario as bizarre as that may sound. So summing up we could indeed be screwed on both fronts here, continuing the MFC curse.

think the article was saying he might not get such a high contract value because his form is down

says geelong might only offer 500k thus affecting compo band

but as others have said it could have been locked in long ago and spud is in injury mgmt

IMO the deal has been done and he is merely going through the motions and trying to not get injured.

I have no evidence of this but surely this explains his performance. Roos should make a statement and drop him.

i like james frawley his got big guns and his a country lad too. also chips are my favourite

It's just never going to end is it?

We are just going to keep being pushed down until we cease to be, through our own incompetence and inability.

It. Just. Never. Ends!

What flavor chips? I like chicken flavour

Uh...corn. Duh.

Sylvia is now getting paid the same wages as a 15 year old at McDonald's and we still managed to get a second round pick for him despite an average 2013 season (although he did come 5th in out b&f)

I found out Sylvia is playing for virtually nothing at a recent Richmond v freo game at the MCG - a knowledgable freo member told me at the game. Way below what the average 10 year player should be on.

Now Frawley will get paid at least double what Sylvia is on and can anyone argue Frawley's 2014 has been any worse than Sylvia's 2013?

The club needs to give Frawley a top 5-7 finish in the b&f.

In conclusion , if Sylvia fetched us a 2nd rd pick, I still think there's a chance we'd be able to get pick 3 for chip.

Oxymoron...

Band 1 compo will be our priority pick imo, the afl will make certain of it. I don't see him leaving for unders anyway between Hawthorne Geelong Freo the suns and the crows someone will offer enough

I am in agreement with others who believe that Frawley was all stitched up by another club very early on and has just been going through the motions all season. Wouldn't be surprised that he suddenly finds form next year. It's almost like he is showing us his middle finger. Contemptible.

I went to training about eight weeks ago cf.

I think I mentioned on here that he looked totally bored that day.

I agree with you the die was cast at the end of 2013.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
