Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Seriously everyone its time to get over it and move on. Three years is enough!

He is not the first guy to leave for money and damn well won't be the last.

Anyone who gets paid to do anything and then gets an offer to do it somewhere else for a lot more money would take it. The kid took hold of the greatest opportunity a 20 year old would ever get and good luck to him. Anyone who says they wouldn't do the same is lying to them selves.

I'm sure he won't be the last player to leave this or another club for money.

But the way he left and the lies he told are the reasons many Melbourne supporters feel betrayed!

And there have been many instances of very good players knocking back big offers so they could stay at the one club!

The middle line is the one that is important. He didn't have to stay with us. It was well known that the other part of his decision to leave was about how the MFC was more of a drinking posse posing as a football club.

The bit that annoys most of us is that until the VERY day of his defection to GWS, he was still pretending it was 50/50 in regards to him staying. I remember the interview they held with him as he was about to board the plane to Sydney when he was saying that he was just going to show his parents where he might be living. Then we hear that Phil Scully has been on a retainer from the Giants for most of 2011 and the fact that he told our dying club president that he WAS going to stay. These facts, if one is forced to think about them, do leave a nasty taste in the mouth.

Privacy laws prevent me from divulging the identity of the poster but Dazzle ... he's a regular helper at our inter forum games.

Also very rich because those money bags contained a lot of $100 & $50 notes :)

well, I hope he's there on our rematch with the Giants this year & shakes & rattles those Money bags at Shiel & Jaksch ; & also Tomlinson. maybe a hula skirt to attract attention to the offer ?

I actually think he is an ok footballer, but he is developing very slowly and would probably not be in our starting 22 if still with us. But the way he left the Dees... will never forget him.

But with his season ending surgery I am now disappointed that my eldest daughter and I will now miss our annual "Booing Tom Scully Game" which has become such a favourite. I know it sounds petty but I cannot tell you how much I enjoy booing this bloke every time he is near the ball.

you know, when a favoured son turns their back on yours & runs off into the sunset holding another girls hand, its very hard to not at the very least 'BOO' to your hearts content.

also they don't want Tom -Tom to experience yet another humiliating LOSS against his former Club.

All part of the cunning devious plot by the Scully's and Richmond first implemented when we drafted him to eventually get him to his spiritual home at the Tigers. I'm sure GWS are getting to the stage where they would desperatly love to offload him. The Scully plan is to devalue boy wonder so much that he becomes a free set of steak knives. :)

He'd fit right inn @ TigerLand... can hear it Now. Yella&Black

Let's never forget that the AFL green lighted the snagging of our number one draft pick at a time where we were absolutely on our knees. Far worse than the position we are in now. This included the side deal including Phat Phil that was only rectified when the Afl were caught out and the corresponding shooting off by Sheedy.

Don't expect me to take a rational position because I cannot. I hate what was happening to us and, by extension, I hope he is not successful. Call it tribalism.

exactly, this is possibly one of the most Un-Australian things they could Ever do to us.

this is an example of how the AFL have stuffed things up, by having too many elite business types making all decisions, without having a balanced democratic voice on the commission.

they are eating the rotten fruits of they're sown deeds. decreasing interest at the moment, but this will event-ually put things back into balance.

.... like the 'ACB' got things wrong Re our Test -Team culture shift, a few years back, the AFL have also got it Arrse Up.

i'd like to see that report that was done for this club, by an X BHP person, around the same time-frame ? would make an interesting read... I wonder if the same mistakes were made for the test team, as was for Us.

Has there been a more reviled character at our club? If so I would like to know who it is.

Hope all the $$$ have been worth it Tom.

Did Rolf Harris play for Melbourne?

Hmmn, do you know which school he attended as a kid?

I don't think anyone is crying TFHf, but they are certainly laughing at the moment. not at GWS but moreso at ourselves & at $cullky. And I would say its become enjoyable.

... and we have changed it, imo, to the benefit of our interests, & that also of GWS. nice to have the overseeing bright smile from above shining a silver hue over us atmo, after that dark cloud has reigned down on us, for over forty years.

It's about bloody time

"I'd be really surprised if he was able to put out 20 games a season for six seasons in a row for that club," Larkins said. "I can't see 120 games over six years, based on the fact he played 10 out of 22 this year."

Larkins said Scully's initial left knee injury, which required surgery before he was drafted at No.1 in 2008, would continue to dog him.

"It's turned out the original injury, which has resulted in some bone being removed from his kneecap, has changed the shape of his knee," Larkins said.

"He now has an issue ... as he gets stronger and bigger he can only put more stress on the knee.

"As you get older, knee injuries only get worse ... they don't get better."

The ongoing knee injury is all the more reason why he probably took the 6 million on offer (2 million in his first year) The offer led to the lie ... even Jimmy intimated that. I'm not necessarily making excuses for Scully but he received an offer that would have been awfully difficult to refuse.

As someone else remarked, blame Sheedy. It's the worst deal for a C grade footballer in history (from a clubs point of view) But hey, out of sight, out of mind. The football public doesn't really care about GWS or Scully.

If it was Collingwood or Carlton that had paid him that enormous amount of money, it would be a completely different story. I could see a deal like that fragmenting a traditional club.

When Hogan starts to shine, we will have well and truly won out on the deal anyway. As things have turned out, Scully is just a below average midfielder.

Of all the hundreds, perhaps thousands, of posts on Demonland about Scully moving to GWS, is this the first time it's been linked to "un-Australian" behaviour? Fine work, dee-luded.

gws just took Patton off and put Mumford forward and are now operating without a proper ruckman. Tannkkkkk

Not convinced. When there was the possibility of a priority pick "tanking" made sense. Now it's just a question of which number draft pick and the chance to go up the order by a couple. Given history has shown that any one of the top 10 players in any draft can end up being the best in that cohort (and, of course sometimes outside the top 10) would there really be sufficient incentive to "tank"?

Whitfield Cameron and Scully out and playing without a ruckman when they have Mumford in the team is a bit tooo fishy

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
