Valid point re: Dunn, Interesting to note that Watts and Dunn have very similar career stats. Very interesting to note that based on those very similar stats, a large number of people were calling for Dunn to be delisted and yet based on the same stats, Watts is considered to probably be in the top 6-10 players at the club.

IMO Watts is the 9th to 13th best player at the club:

N.Jones

Tyson

Vince

Dawes

Dunn

Mcdonald

Frawley

Howe

M.Jones

Grimes

Pedersen

No room for Viney in that list?

Different public view. What would a D'land poster know..

So you can say with 100% certainty that Roosy doesn't have exactly the same view behind closed doors as he does in the public, despite Jack playing every game this year, and Roosy defending him on more than one occasion.

I will happily have my slice of humble pie if Jack is offered up for trade at years end.

The list was my opinion, If I had to pick which name would go on the team sheet first it would be Watts... just, although you could squeeze him in to the 'on a level' bracket with Grimes, Jones and Pedersen. Love Viney and the way he plays, but his kicking is a liability - no penetration and not reliable =/

It doesn't matter if he his winning the footy. He is neat with the footy and ferocious when about to get it.

He would be in top 4 mids, and one of the most important players at the club.

I don't disagree, love JV and for the most part his disposal is 'neat', but he isn't a great kick (especially to leading forwards). IMO though, If there was 1 spot left to fill on the team sheet and we had no particular needs I'd be picking Watts because he is more damaging when on song.

What would a premiership coach know

i don't think a coach has ever existed who was 100% correct 100% of the time

ergo: your argument only has limited value and is not absolute. this forum is an opinion based forum and nobody is infallible

Was never intended as a definitive statement, just a suggestion that the amount of public support for Jack Watts individually from Roosy suggests that he rates him a little bit more highly than the demonlanders calling for his head, a lot of whom called for Dunns head, and Pedersons head

I was one who called for the heads of Dunn and Pederson and others at various stages and I am extremely happy I have been proven wrong.

By my reckoning there are 15 on our list that are candidates for delisting or trading (depending on contract status).

The stats for turnovers are clear. Get rid of all those that continually turn the ball over. They kill confidence. If you look at our stats for the year its turnovers where we are scored most heavily against. Fix that up and we very competitive. A lot of our backline are guilty of this but Grimes, Terlich have to be under serious pressure. Roos got rid of Terlich once. He'll do it again I suspect. Grimes is a such a hard one because he is such a trier and clearly an upstanding bloke but his flaws are very deep.

I have some sympathy because our midfielders don't run and spread enough, That does make it harder for the backline. But guys like Nicho, Terlich and Grimes are consistently bad. I'd actually have McDonald in there as well but he has a lot of other strong credentials and has just been re-signed so is not going anywhere.

Next we have to look at players that can't or won't run. Plenty of those.

Watts lost me last year. He is soft in the xtreme. Skills are excellent but you can't have a player like that who won't run, tackle and cant win a one on one without destroying team ethics.

Frawley has clearly gone. The footy world knows it. He is playing like it. He is worth more to us gone than with us. Tell us now Chip so we can plan.

McKenzie is a one trick pony whose one trick is no longer good. Spencer has been re-signed and I love his attack on the footy but his lack of skills detract seriously from any benefit his mongrel provides.

Evans, Tappy, Strauss, Blease, MJones, FItzy and Clisby have to be gone and along with Byrnes and Clark.

We need mids with skills who can run and defenders who can kick and make decisions under pressure. This all needs fixing before we consider a fwd line. I can't believe how f&^%&^d we are.

Agree with all you have said! so the rebuild of rebuilding, rebuilds into another Rebuild!

Well if that's what it is I want us to go extremely hard at the trade table! Might need to trade a few favs in order to get the mix we need!

Not saying he will be. Saying that we should consider it. He's not up to it and has some trade currency. Not too many others have that.

As for Roos having different views publicly and privately I would say yes he would with 100% certainty.

got me beat.

So what is Watt's role , that he's so capably doing ? Bruise free footballer ?

I'm not arguing jacks worth Bb, I'm arguing that roos clearly has some faith in him, several statements in which he defends watts publicly would make him look pretty silly if he trades him at years end.

I know what you and indeed PR are saying ( different things..etc ) but It has me confounded ( and dare I say confused ) if Roos thinks jacks been doing not just ok but well ( in his role ) This , for mine , beggars belief. as I find him distinctly wanting in the hard effort ( i.e body on body ) dept. SO Im really wondering what sort of airy fairy role does he implore of jack ?

I s till firmly believe he has all the qualities that could make a very very good player.......bar one ( well , yet to see it )

I think the thing for me is the quality of the side Bb, I reckon Jack will improve as the side does, if the ball was coming in fast and clean alot more he would become more dangerous, it would be interesting to see how watts would go sitting in a pocket at say the hawks

But I agree he just doesn't want the contest at this stage

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
