A few rumours floating around that Melbourne are keen on the kid and he is obviously not cracking a game in a very very strong Sydney side.

From watching him last year, it is obvious that he has no issues finding the footy and has a pretty solid left boot. Personally, i think he should be in the Sydney side at the moment, but the fact that he isnt probably makes him gettable.

He would probably walk for a second round pick? i cant imagine Sydney asking more, considering he isnt getting a game.

Would crack straight into our best 22 in my opinion, i would have him ahead of Bail and probably Matt Jones from first thoughts.

Would you like to see him in the red and blue?

I think he'd be a really important and solid get if we could snare the little ball magnet.

I voted Yes JVFP... & hopefully before we finally become a RePublic too, JVFP. not a day too soon.

Damn quote won't work, Sydney needed a midfielder to replace Hanneberry and went with Zack Jones and not Mitchell, that tells you something, whoever Roos picks will do me

Why would he be in the best 22? ridiculous comment, how many games have you watched him play?

I watched him play the second half of last year and the games he played this year so far.

He has ability to put on defensive pressure and play offensive. Something Bail does not do very well and i believe he'd make our team. We have players like Bail, Riley, Mckenzie and probably Terlich getting regular games. He is ahead of all these players.

Secondly, his ability to find the ball is something our midfield would love, we currently dont have enough ball magnet. So that "ridiculous comment" comes from watching him play a fair amount of games, understanding the type of player he is and understanding the type of player we dont have.

Rumors from the mouths of the low lives that lurk in the murky waters of Demonland, or rumors from proper sources?

Sorry my quote won't work, so you are watching him in the NEAFL?

Riley what you mean his 2 games?

Ask Stanton about Jordie McKenzie's pressure

Bail, completely different role, and Terlich, so you would take a ball magnet and play him as a small defender, like I said ridiculous comment

Mitchell's disposal average in AFL is 19, so not a ball magnet, same as Dom Tyson, a young developing midfielder, might interest Roos

Tom Mitchel is out injured at the moment 'Saty', that's all it tells me but with you on whoever Roos picks.

Longmire has said he would have received a call up if he was not currently injured.

Would be a good pick up but I doubt Sydney would let him go cheaply as he would be viewed as one of their next generation blue chippers.

Seen him at Claremont Colts and junior footy in WA, stand out kid and would be a good get if something could be done. As far as rumours go, I don't think being mentioned by Demonland posters qualifies as rumours

I thought if a player's name is mentioned on Demonland then he will be on our list next year. ATM

I think our list next year numbers 72.

Rumours from sources, a mate i know is pretty good friends with his best mate. And apparently rumours flying around about Melbourne being linked with him.

Riley has no area in his game that makes him special. I like some of his work, but he doesnt get me reeally.

Mckenzie is good one week and rubbish for the next 5.

Bail? hahahah he is the exact some role, half forward moving up.

And for a player who has played so little games, his average is very impressive. From NEAFL and previous AFL (last year), he is a ball magnet.

Mitchell would be in our top 5 players.

The kid is just a superstar, I'd gladly part with a first rounder - but that wouldn't nearly get it done.

It would if he wants out unless another club is going to outbid us. Now most of the other clubs around us on the ladder are after KPP's so may be it is enough to get it done.

I hope like hell your right JVFP! Mitchell is a potential star. With Viney, Tyson, Jones, Salem, Toump, Kent, Trengove, Kennedy Harris, Watts, Hogan, Howe, and McDonald we have a serious team of players to take us forward a tilt toward a premiership.

I'll add Riley (serious meat and potatoes type which every club needs but has more tricks than McKenzie) and Gawn (who I think I is a player)

All these players are young and are yet to reach their potential.

I could add Dawes, Frawley, Grimes, Garland, Dunn who are young enough to see success.

If our team truly wants to be great again, we will need all 72 players on our list next year. Screw what the AFL says... we need to stand up for what we believe in and stop being pushovers as a club. Only then will other clubs begin to take us seriously.

I think we're gonna need to get at least two young mids out of this off season. Two of the GWS boys and/or Mitchell would do me. Can't see it happening though.

So not through the draft then? I thought we needed forwards?, and key defenders? and running halfbacks, still reckon the 72 on the list is the way to go

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
