Hes denying links to the Lions job, funnily enough the same thing Roosy had to do half way through last year when Brisbane were going after him.

i bloody hope he doesn't. We are ridiculously far from being out of the woods yet, in every club aspect on field and off field. Although some posters with their hyperbolic posts, rants and praise would have you believe otherwise.

My understanding is that Jackson extended his contract til end '14. Maybe I am wrong.

Greg Swann would be a good get IMO IF Jackson stands down/finishes up. AFL would be good with that I would have thought.

Then a bunch of posters were quick to pounce on me and suggest that PJ is in his 60's and wont stay past the end of 2014 which is all he is committed to at this stage

So which one is it?

Quite possibly neither at this stage.

I would have thought that if there is a suitable candidate, he will step down; if not he will stay on for a bit longer.

There is another possibility. He's not staying long term, but he's not finishing at the end of this year either. Two or three more years ought to do it.

I don't remember anyone saying he wouldn't stay past 2014, just that he won't be at MFC until 2020.

PJ's exit is an interesting one. You would think that they'd try to not have both Roos and PJ step down at the same time. If he stays on for 2015 then I'd like to think he'd stay on past Roos' tenure as Head Coach.

I get that feeling and whilst he seems to have done a good job to get the business on track, albeit with some pretty powerful benefactors he has had a little bit too much to do with the football side of things for my liking.

From what I saw of PJ the other night at the Club, he has unfinished business with us, reckon he is like Roos when he considers he has done what he was "hired" to do, he will look for a successor, it also helps that he gets nothing but positive feedback from the supporters

I'd like to think that PJ would stay to oversee the succession plan he suggested to entice ROOS.

If his assistant gets appointed at the end of the season, and Roos stays on until 2016. I can see Roos staying on as Football Director.

PJ would then stay on to ensure the New coach appointment is bedded down.

He is not the type to turn his back on something he has started but not completed.

With no insight at all - I also feel that PJ, when he decides to pull the plug, won't say - that's it - I'm off. I think (hope) like Roos - he will exit on his own timetable after ensuring we have someone in place to take over from him.

Pretty hard for him to land Roos by hard selling him on the idea of a succession plan and then not do the same himself ?

PJ needs to stay as his work is not yet done.
