We should seriously draft this boy

I find it very funny that he can't get a game at Freo, and has now been rubbed out for a frustrated, off the ball incident. I also find it funny that Brisbane have turned to pure tripe since Moloney's arrival (their form and his arrival are purely coincidental), and by seasons end, it could see that we have gone ahead of them.

How's your ego now, boys? And before anyone starts about the "gone to another club to play finals" rubbish, for a select group of players moved on, it was more about ego than anything else.

The only player in the past 5 years I have been disappointed to see go is Cheney. Didn't get much of a go at Melbourne, seemed to be a blue collar worker when we had a fetish for white, has worked his backside off at Hawthron and through good luck (or bad luck to the injured players), is looking at consolidating a spot in their senior team, but understands that getting dropped is an opportunity to work on areas in the reserves and to push for senior selection again, rather than an opportunity to sulk. Any wonder he never got a fair go at the MFC with that attitude!

I think the point about our recruiting is not that the recruiters made decisions (in most cases) that others would not have made but that despite best efforts the return from the recent recruiting has been poor for a range of reasons. Cook was a risk that should not have been taken, some of the others like Blease, Tapscott, Clark, Evans and Strauss have been crueled by injury and no where near where they should be right now for the time they have had on the list. Scully, Jurrah, Wonaeamirri, Mclean, Sylvia and Moloney left for any number of reasons and others like Gysberts, Tynon, Trengove, Watts and Morton never or have not yet reached their potential.

Even a 30% return of quality best 22 players from the above list today would make us a very different side.

I think our recruiting has been rubbish but that is not just the fault of the recruiters. Luck and fate have played their part as well.

Colin is the "subways" of the AFL.

His advertisements look absolutely delicious but the reality is a really bland, tasteless, underwhelming sandwich served by rude 16 year olds.

Subway is so better than that Nutbean. Don't give up on it after one bad experience - it's the most reliable and consistent fast food in Australia.

Having written all that, comparing it with Sylvia is 100% wrong in my view.

Yep. Our draftee hit rate over the last seven years is even worse than our winning percentage...so I guess you could say we've played above ourselves, as sad as that is to say.

Gee I thought a win may change the board for a week, but no another 3 pages of hindsight recruiting, I am surprised that some posters on here are not employed as recruiters, maybe the are, but i think not

Every club has disasters at recruiting, when the team is winning nobody cares, it is only when they are losing.....hence some of the headlines re Carlton this week

We still have 45 players on the list, and one confirmed delisting at the end of the year, same as every club, who knows out of that will be the hero and piece of inspired next week or the spud and the absolute disaster

Subway improved when they removed yoga mat material from their bread…still not great, though.

I guess that relates to Sylvia - he did a lot of Pilates to recover from OP...

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
