Has anyone else noticed bruces voice when he gets excited by a passage or a goal? He gets his voice really low and adds in his best masculine growl, its hilarious. if you havn't noticed it, listen for it.

I notice it far too often, I struggle listening to him now.

...especially when it is one of his favourites like "Chaaaappppeeeeeeeeeee"

But that's not the worst with Bruce "stuck in the cupboard in denial" McAveny (sp)

The worst is he commentates like it's 1995 and he has time to babble on about utter shite while the play goes on.

"Foot candy", just an example of where the commentary team trys too hard to supplement the entertainment with their own cleverness. commentary on the umpires throw in and sel f indulgent cross references - bristle, darce richo

Could we have the afls version or roy and hg? A [censored] take call?

I never tire of the couldabeens though accept that dates me and they dont call as such (except for ex cooda tony leonard)

BT and Richo have this obsession with one of the pockets at Etihad, believing that shots on goal from there drift - or as they call it, "slide" - away from goal.

Not sure how that works with a closed roof and no wind..

But it leads to these ridiculous passages of commentary from BT where he says "and the ball goes out of bounds in the sliding quadrant of the ground."

WTF ?/???

Try explaining that nonsense to someone unfamiliar with the game.

It's like watching the footy with a bunch a bunch of mates in your lounge room. Except they aren't mates and you wouldn't want them in your house for money.

Won't Robbo's take in The Hun tomorrow be interesting? I loved the observation of Patrick Smith on SEN a couple of weeks ago about a Robinson article : " I thought to myself , this HAS to been written by James Hird himself , but then I thought , no , it can't be , Hird at least knows how to write ".

A great Comettiism as a North player (can't remember who) had the ball and was run down and caught red handed - "not enough talk, apart from my good self".

Permit me to take a little poke at my own profession:

The media is always on the lookout for legal eagles to give opinions on prominent court cases. One of the most outspoken rent a lawyers has been barrister, Deakin University lecturer and social media commentator who has apparently carried out some legal work for the Bombers:

Court ruling could shape James Hird's future at Essendon, says lawyer

However, lawyer Martin Hardie, now a lecturer at Deakin University, believes Essendon and Hird should be "reasonably confident" of a favourable decision.

Mark Maclure is the worst commentator. Absolutely hates melbourne. Whines and whinges like a girl.

He doesn't hate Melbourne. He said on ABC A couple of weeks ago that quote- Melbourne supporters have suffered enough, and that the competition needs Melbourne. He did have a go at Roosy though for not going along to watch Casey play.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
